Thinking about going to Mecum in Kansas city to check out this 67 GS .
Anyone have an idea what these cars are bringing in average condition ?
looks like some overspray on the frame and a scrape o the left quarter .

Nice, a convertible for Kim! You're a smart man!!

Looks like a nice car. Can't say that I have ever seen a flame red 67 before. Note that it has 66 center caps on the wheels, so the car may not have originally come with the chrome road wheels.
-
Thanks Dan for the reposting the link , I don,y know what I did there .
Chuck , Yeah thats the plan . I showed Kim and she likes it for now until we find another car we like better .
I,ve been watching the Mecum auctions and cars like this sometimes slide thru pretty reasonable .
-
Best of luck if you decide to go for it! This could be a good temporary parade car until you find just the right Wildcat!

John,
ChuckNixon over on the V8 board would be a good contact concerning a 67 GS. He bought a 67 vert at Mecum last year for $35k, it's a real nice one.

Hi John,
If you decide to come to KC, you have a place to stay with us. Let me know and I'll go with you.

John,
Have you seen this one? It is on CL and at an upholstery shop I use regularly that is about 7 miles up the road from my house. 340 4bbl, PW, AC, rear defrost. Looks like a really nice car. If you are interested in it, PM me and I can go check it out for you tomorrow.

Brian , That looks like a pretty nice car for the money . Unfortunately my wife wants a convertible . But thanks for the heads up .
John Egel , thanks so much for the offer for a place to stay . I will keep that in mind and let you know my plans as soon as i can .
That sounds like it would be a fun time .
As of right now its looking pretty promising to make this trip . The list of cars for this auction is pretty short right now so I,m hoping they get some more nice cars in the line up .
Walt , that car Chuck Nixon bought must be pretty nice , hoping not to spend quite that much .

Looks like a mostly original car.
Has the radiator cross bars
Heater hose holder
Correct molded heater hose, with a tag, wonder where they fond that?
Driver fender has rust bubbles in the rear and a dent in the front.
Looks like it has had brake lines at least on the master cylinder.
May have a factory AM/FM
Looks like some kinda of a gauge in the clock area.
Missing the drivers side trim cap by the top of the quarter glass base.
Correct valve covers with plug wire holder.
As somene else said, incrrect center caps, They are 66 long bird, but GS had tri-shield
That is about all I see, withhout downloading the pictures and enlargeing them but about all you may see is more body bubbles.
-
John,
This one has your name all over it :icon_thumright:

Oooooh, baby, it's even Verde Green! John, you need to buy it before I get tempted! :laughing7:
I'd love to see the part numbers on the carbs. It's not all original (dual master power brakes, etc.) but the right carbs would be a major plus!
If you need a partner for a road trip, let me know!

Loren !!!!!! OH MY GOSH :notworthy: That is PERFECT !
I,ll be watching this like a hawk . I,m pretty sure its gonna go well over my price range but man that car is beautiful . I want to start bidding now but that will probably just drive the price up .
Thanks for posting this .
Chuck its definitely ROAD TRIP TIME .
-
I like that, what a neat car. Dual quad 4 speed land yacht.
-
Seller put a Buy It Now price on the car of $49,995.
Dan
-
Dan , yeah I seen that too . Thats a little over my price range for a car that i,m going to let my wife drive fairly often .
And IF I was going to pay that much for a car I would definitely have to look at it in person first .
I do really like the car but not that much .
-
Yeah John, lots of choices for that kind of money.

What a beautiful kitty kat! But seems strange to have those options but not present on the firewall tag which is held on by a single pop rivet!?

Yeah I noticed that also , does seem a little strange .

Auction ended at $29,100. Reserve not met......
-
Chuck , were you the high bidder ? :laughing7:
-
No, but I did question the reserve price from the seller. He never responded.... :dontknow:

I wouldn't expect 29k to buy the Wildcat.
Back to the 67 GS..... the body line on the lower qtr of the drivers side doesn't look right, might be bondo? I don't see that going for over 20k considering ll the body and paint flaws.
-
My son and I were looking at that Cat on Ebay the other night and I noticed the VIN tag too, kind of strange !! and I live in Long Island and our Chapter has a big all Buick show every year and I don't recall ever seeing that Buick. or do I remember ever talking about a Wildcat like that.. our chapter meeting is this Thursday, I will bring up the subject and see if anyone here knows about it and pass on the info....

I Brought up the subject of the 65 Wildcat at the L I Buick Club meeting last night. Several members saw it on Ebay ( and questioned the VIN tag ) but other than that no one has ever seen it or heard of it on Long Island. So it may have come from out of state.....

Won,t be able to make it to Mecum auction .
John Egle , thanks so much for offering me up a place to stay but we are getting our first grandson that weekend so I,ve decided to stay home and watch it from my computer .
-
John, you can still bid!
-
John, you can still bid!
Yeah Jim , I just might do that too , but without actually seeing the car in person I probably won,t bid very high .
Who knows , maybe I,ll try Indy in May . Always wanted to do Indy .

Indy is a really good auction but the prices are usually a bit more than the KC auction. Perhaps you could entice John Egel to inspect it for you. Remember that phone bidders pay a 15% commission versus 10% though.

67 GS convert went for 22 k with the reserve not met . :dontknow:

No love!

Well, I was close.....
