Title: Axle Ratio Stampings
Post by: Rollaround on March 10, 2017, 04:46:09 PM
Has anyone actually found them?

I have two original 65s from my GS and Special and a 72 Chevy 12 bolt  I've never been able to find the stampings.  Talking with Glenn today, he's never found his either.  Are they just so faint that after time they cant be found?

The ones I've found were very faint.

I didn't think to look for them on my axle.  I was more concerned with discovery of the paint codes and marks.  The code "LU" painted on my center section was correct for the 3.36 Posi.  I didn't look any farther.

There are stampings on my '65, on the bottom of the drivers side tube, a few inches from the center section.
An 'E' , a '2' and the 'x' in a circle (for posi) are plainly visible. two other characters are faint.

Kevin,

There are markings stamped in a tube on my car, just don't know what they mean.
