Looks like a nice car and a great story! Good luck with sale!

Anyone know if this is Steve Shumans car? 1977 was when he and I shared our lists of 65GS's at the Nationals.

Yes, this was Steve's pride and joy and the family has decided it's time to let someone else care for and enjoy it. :icon_thumright:

I contacted Steve after I read an article about him and his 65s in one of the old musclecar magazines, must have been 1993 or so.
He sent me a packet of info which I still have. Hope it goes to a good home!

I sure hope this car doesn't end up with a flipper. seems like at that price it could easily happen. very nice car

Man, has my sense of timing gone astray. Two weeks ago, I bought a 2005 Mustang GT convertible with 24,000 original miles and a 5 speed manual. It's a Legend Lime color, which is somewhat rare.
Anyway, had that deal not transpired, this car would likely already be on its way to me, or at least in the process. Would be rough on my budget, but with the history behind it, I would have made things happen.
I hope it goes to an excellent home.

Did this car go to anyone on here?

I don't want to ruin the surprise but she's staying in the 65GS.com family and no... I didn't buy it. :laughing7:
I'm sure that you'll be seeing more pictures and hearing the full story soon.

Somebody did very well,Congrats on a nice car.....It isn't until you spend all day working on one inner fender , that you realize the "reality" factor of making a car this nice and completely original a masterpiece. This was a good decision for whoever purchased it. Dan

Sounds like the new owner is looking forward to becoming the caretaker.
Hope we will see it around at some events.

I'm pleased to confirm that Steve's "famous" 65 GS convertible has joined the stable here in SW Michigan. The deal was done this morning and it was transported from Buffalo, NY to here. She's a beauty and I'm looking forward to assessing what it needs to become a reliable driver after seeing very limited use over the past few years. The added bonus for me was the privilege of meeting Steve's family. His wife and daughter welcomed me warmly and, while sad to see the car go, are happy that the car's new owner is another 65 GS enthusiast. I feel that owning this car comes with a lot of responsibility, due to it's family history and it being the symbol of Steve's passion for these cars.
While I will be doing a few fixes and repairs, rest assured this car will remain as original as possible. The paint might be imperfect, but it shines like new and will not be changed. It will keep it's "survivor" character for sure!
I've got a lot of material to go through that came with the car to better understand it's history. I also purchased all of Steve's library of Buick-themed material and look forward to adding it to my near future reading list. And I hope to be able to help with some questions about how things were done "from the factory". I know Steve did some repairs, but expect that the car is a generally good example of how it was originally built.
Yes, I hope to get this car out to some Buick functions so that others can share it. But not until I get the titling and licensing processes complete and get comfortable in it's reliability. I'd love to meet you guys!
I've attached a couple of pictures from today. The lady with me is Sandy Shuman, Steve's wife. I know that some of you have met her.
It's been a long day and I will definitely retire tonight with a smile on my face!
Cheers! :occasion14:

PS: Yes, I will still be restoring my 65 GS 4-speed convertible. When finished, my wife and I will have "His" and "Hers" :love4:

WOW
Congratulations
What a RELIEF
I was sure hoping your new 65GS would remain within the hands of someone who really cared.
Your Pictures are really amazing for a 50 year old muscle car.
There was only one Steve Shuman and the documented information you got along with the car is priceless.
I am the 3rd owner of my 65GS White Hardtop and have full documentation and access to the previous 2 owners.
I can't even imagine what it means to have Steve's.
Once again Congratulations and Good Luck

Thanks to all for your support. I'm looking forward to what the future brings with my "stable" of 65 GS's, and especially Steve's very special one.
Mark, thanks for posting that cover of "Muscle Cars" magazine. I now have about three original copies in my possession! :icon_thumright:
Cheers!

Congrats on the Gs. So glad it went to a good home. I still have that muscle car magazine too. I used to dream of those cars when I was a little kid reading that magazine. [emoji106]
