Title: 1/4 Glass rollers
Post by: freddie.zee65 on March 04, 2017, 11:26:16 AM
Does anyone know of an outlet that sell the nylon rollers that attach to the 1/4 glass? They appear to be about 5/8 inch and snap on to a ball stud. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Fred Z.

Don't know of anyone that makes those, but if you would let us know the body style and year someone might have a 'spare' regulator for you.

The car is a hardtop. These go on the 1/4 glass sash channel an snap onto a ball stud and align into the up and down channels.

Hope this description helps. I guess I could use the threaded style but would have to drill the ball studs out. I have 4 broken ones out of the 6 on the car

Thanks,
Fred Z.

Fred,

Can you see the number stamped in the regulator ? Should be a 58 or something similar.

I may have one or two if I can find them, will let you know tomorrow. As far as I know they are obsolete other than using the screw style. I bought a couple extras if my brain can remember where I put them.

I found what I believe is the correct piece. How many do you need? Part number on GM package is 9666748

This is a superceded part number which means that these are still out there. This part number is what I have previously used and it worked as new. Don't be surprised if you walk into your local GM dealer and they have these in stock. They fit a lot of cars.

I got new rollers from Ames Performance. Part number J134M, 3 pcs set for $14. These included the metal stud. Easy to install. Drill out or grind away the old rivet stud. Inset new ones and peen over the metal stud. Make sure that the metal stud is peened over tightly against the 1/4 window frame. Clean out the old grease from the track and use lithium grease. If your electric windows operate slowly or if you manual window are difficult to crank, most likely, it's the window regulator rollers that are broken or stuck.
