How many of you out there are planning to come to the BCA national meet at Charlotte Motor Speedway in July of this year? I just live 1 hour drive north of where the show is in a small town called Mocksville and was thinking of having a gathering of 64-67 Specials/Skylarks/GS and cookout at my place one evening that week. I live on two acres in the edge of the woods with lots of grass and shade to line up the cars. Just wanted to see who all is planning to come to the show and what the interest in something like this is. I have never seen or heard of a show/gathering for just the 64-67s before and thought it would be great to get a bunch of them together. I have 3 in my garage that will be there.

I'm going. Trying to decide on which cars I want to bring. Hope to see some 65's there!

Looking at the schedule of events the BCA has planned for the week, it looks like Thursday night would be a good time to have a gathering of the '64-'67s and a cookout at my place. Not sure when everyone is planning to roll into NC for the show, but was thinking that people may be traveling to the show on Thursday and could stop through Mocksville on the way in that night.
Any thoughts?

Hey Brian,
You can count me in, will be neat to see how many variations of 64-67's show up and how many are the 3 pedal variety
Sounds like a good time for all of us to put some faces to some of the names finally.
Hope to see all you there,
Regards,
-
I think I will try to do that also, let me know the details. It's been awhile since I've headed that way!
-
James,
You should join the BCA and bring your car to the show--rare oportunity to take your car to a national level show that is all Buicks! Last time it was this close to this area was in 1994 when it was in Atlanta.
-
I'm actually registering at the end of the week for the meet and the BCA!
-
Hi all,
Should be sending in my registration on Friday, hope to see a bunch over at Brian's as it should be neat to get together that many early cars and there owners
Thou, if you know Brian, you already know he has a nice mini car show already. I know I was amazed the first time I went over to see the 4 door I later bought.
See you all there...

My buddy and I are driving up from south Florida in his '62 Buick Invicta Convertible for the meet. He's having his vert judged and then putting it up for sale. I was able to talk my father, a 41 year Buick retiree, into driving down from Flint and meeting us. I'd love to meet some of the people on here, especially at a cook-out with their cars.

I'm Working on my dance card for BCA Nationals week.
Are you still hoping to try and put something together for Thursday?
Is there anything we could help with?

Hi Brian, same question! I'll be there with Wildcat...my wife is flying in Friday, so thursday looks like a good day for this.

I have a grill and a big place with lots of yard to park some cars. I am not always the best at organizing food (barely keep myself fed--part of being a single guy). So once we have a count on how many people, if someone can help me plan out what food to get and how much to get, that would be a big help!

Looks like we are right at a month away from the BCA meet in Charlotte. I counted 6 people saying they were interested in the cookout at my house. I need to start planning the details for it and need to get a good headcount. Here are the ones that posted and said they were planning to come:
Mark Ascher
Jim Moses (and spouse)
Ted Nagel
Jonesy
Milton Dale
James Scarboro

First off, how about some directions to my house?
For all those coming, send me a pm with your Email address and I will send the directions to everyone. Don't really want to post directions to my house out here on the web.
Also, for clarity, the date of the gathering at my house is June 28th. I plan to take vacation the 28th and 29th, so everyone coming can just show up at my place anytime mid-afternoon on--whenever you roll into town.
-
Brian,
Count my dad and I in. I can stop and pick up anything you may need once we're on our way. We're staying in Concord for the weekend. It looks like about an hours drive from the hotel we're at. Will you be PMing us with an address or posting it?
-
My wife will be attending also!

Here are the directions for everyone planning to come to the GS gathering/cookout at my house:
If coming on I-40, get off at exit 170 and head north on route 601. Go approximately 1 mile and you will see a place on the left called Christy Trucking (lighted red sign on front of building). Take a left on Allen Road immediately past Christy Trucking. It will look like you are turning into the far end of the Christy parking lot.
Go down Allen road approximately 1/4 mile and take the first right on Nebbs Trail (gravel road). You will then be looking at my house--only brick house on Allen road. My property is on both sides of the gravel road, so everyone can just park in the grass on either side.
If coming up from Concord, head north on I-85 to Salisbury. Take the Jake Alexander Blvd exit and head north (rt 601 bypass). Follow the signs to stay on 601 all the way through Salisbury and Mocksville. 601 will cross I-40 at exit 170. At this point pick up the directions above from I-40.
If you use a GPS, my address is 120 Nebbs trail, Mocksville, NC

We are two weeks out from the cookout/mini-show at my house. If you haven't confirmed your attendance, post on here that you are coming. If anyone gets lost getting to my house, call me at 252-885-6817 and we will get you back on track!

Thanks Brian, see you an a few weeks.

Looks like it is going to be a super hot week for the car show--96-98 deg everyday! Cookout is at my house on Thursday at 6:00. Show up anytime after that. I am going to have burgers, chicken, hotdogs, some sides/deserts and provide soda to drink. I have plenty of shade to park everyones Buick in my backyard. I will have my 3 there and Jim Moses's '65 is already at my house. Feel free to call me at 252-885-6817 if you have any questions.

If any of you are in Concord at the host hotel on Thurs, Jim Moses will be there and will be heading to my place for the cookout that evening. He will be the guy with the primer black 65 Skylark post car with a white roof and a California tag on the front.

Any time to post pictures yet?

Milton,
I have all the pics on my computer now. I need to sort through them, figure out which ones to post, and then reduce them in size so they can be posted. Plan to have that done sometime this week.
