Title: Hey guys , (3) 65,s on craigslist in Arizona
Post by: 35chevcoupe on February 28, 2015, 10:16:38 AM
I called and he's asking 8k for all 3 . He doesn't have any pictures . Anyone know of someone out that direction that might be able to check them out ? Sounds like they are apart with only one engine .

My bad . Sorry Dan I get excited sometimes        :violent1:
Wish they weren't so far away so I could look at them .

You did nothing bad and its certainly fine to get excited sometimes. Was just trying to give you a heads up, you know, be careful.
Everything could be on the up and up, but I have seen a listing from someone in AZ just like, or very similar, to this one for months.
Hope you find someone out that way to look at it for you.

Dan

I agree with Dan about being careful.

I seem to remember seeing the  CL post on this a few months back.

As Loren knows, I surf a national Craigslist site at least weekly looking for 65 GS vehicles. That's how I saw the listing(s) in question.

Is this the guy that had one on an old 4x4 frame? I saw a picture of a 65 blue convertible that looked like it had very  good sheet metal. It might be the deal of the day if it is Arizona clean. Dan

I'm not sure if it's the same add or not , regardless of that I think he's a little high on the price .
The way his add is written it makes it sound like there is 3 converts and 1 hardtop , there is only 2 converts and 1 hardtop .  He doesn't have titles for any of them .
He only has one engine (small v8 ) and no transmissions . He did say they had fairly nice sheet metal ( whatever that means ) except for the fact that the roof on the Hardtop was smashed . Which was a clincher for me as I need to replace the roof on mine because of rust from the vinyl top .
Anyway 8 k sounds high to me but I'm by no means an expert on the values .

I'm not too sure about all these guys advertising cars without titles. Some states do not have them on older cars, but you still need to document ownership in writing. I drove half the day to look at an old Cadillac  in Michigan only to find a moron telling me he would take $5500 for it,but he did not have the title. Next he went on to explain how easy it was to get a title. I already know how easy it is. You stand in line in Michigan, fill out paperwork if it is legitimate, and wait for a police officer to inspect. If it is not legitimate, you have some B.S. Paperwork, wait for that same police officer to put you in jail for at least three years. If someone is selling you a whole car, make sure you know who they are. This being a "hobby" will not get you a free pass in most states, and I do not appreciate people who do not own what they are selling. I dare say it is one of those things that makes me angry.Dan

If it so easy to get a title, I've always wondered why the seller doesn't do it.

It's not so easy.  I've been down that road.

I couldn't agree with you more Loren ,  ( if it's so easy why didn't they get the title ) if anything it's getting harder .  I think it may be different for different states but here in minn. It seems to be getting harder and harder every year . Even the 65GS I just got off e bay after transferring the title the state just sent me a Motor Vehicle sales tax affidavit form I now have to fill out , claiming I didn't pay enough sales tax on it .
This is BS . ( they have no clue the shape this car is in )
Guess I just have to Grinn  :icon_biggrin: and bear it .

Sorry Loren ,lol it gets me frustrated too . I have 3 cars I'm still working on getting titles for . One of them is going to take some cutting and pasting if you know what I mean . BUT I REFUSE TO DESTROY THE CAR .

The swap meet you guys are talking about , is that in Lincoln Neb. .

Guys..FWIW, I have dealt with BROADWAY TITLE in Alabama over the years when I was dealing in Motorcycles and Sports cars: MG's Jag's Triumphs etc...   They have a website and advertise in hemmings. They are ligit. With correct paperwork, ie: receipts and vin tags etc, with some minimal effort, they can provide you with an Alabama TITLE for just about any vehicle. Take that title/paperwork to your State DOT Licensing facility and transfer the ALABAMA title to your state...
I make it sound easy and it is, sorta, just gotta provide correct paperwork to prove the car isnt stolen and stuff like that...

Just thro'n it out there as an option.

Be careful on cars without titles.....period. Maybe less careful if that state does not require them. Any older title in anyone's name supersedes a newer LEGIT title. You do not want to be "that guy" who restores a car only to find that Elmers nephew has had the title in his safe for the last three years. Dan

Thanks for the reminder.

Not exactly sure which event you are referring to.
There is one this Sunday, March 8 at the Lincoln, NE Lancaster Event Center.
Starts at 7 AM. It has a large turn out. Forecast is for partly cloudy, 58 degrees and 0% precipitation.

The other upcoming is the Swap/ show at the MN State Fairgrounds on May 3. It is hosted by the Gopher state BCA chapter. Weather seems to have a determining factor on that one. Some of us GS guys get together on Saturday before the event.

The one in Lincoln was the one I was wondering about . I'm kinda tempted to hop in my car and go there , I like swap meets a lot . I've been going to the one in mn. at the fairgrounds for quite awhile now . The weather definitely does play a role in that one . Never know what your gonna get in Mn. .
