35chevcoupe,

This probably won't go anywhere any time soon, if at all. I posted something here and on another forum to see if I could generate any interest. Doug, at the Buick Farm, and I had spoken at length about doing a reproduction boot but there wasn't much interest. Possibly because, if I remember correctly, his minimum run needed to be a few hundred and how many 4-speed guys need a new boot? (Both 65 and 66?)

He says he has a guy in Canada, the same guy that does his reproduction grease cover for the 4-speeds, that is willing to do them but needs a rather large run in order to do so.

He also needs for someone to send him a nice original to send to this guy as a template. I was willing but now mine has a few rips in it that are getting larger all the time. Doug said he knows that he'll get stuck with a lot of them that will never sell but didn't seem to care, just so that he and the rest of us would have nice new boots.

I'm getting ready to jury rig a piece of dyna-mat under my boot in order to try and block some of the heat from coming into the cabin. I tried using GOOP to fix the tears but all I did was make a mess.

I've enclosed a pic of the grease cover that he reproduces. This is not his but my jacked up original.

What is everyone doing for a boot then ? chevelle , GTO , ?
the one I have now is pretty far gone .
I wonder what it would cost money wise to have a run of them made ?

The Fusick (Oldsmobile) repo boot looks similar to the Buick version but it is bigger, and IMO, just doesn't look like it belongs.
The Chevelle boot is actually the same boot Buick used for UNDER the consolette (if so equipped) to cover the hole in the floor. Then another smaller boot fits in the Buick console, hiding the larger boot under it . It looks right at home in a Buick without a console. The retaining ring is even the same.
I have pictures of the Chevelle/Buick boots as well as the repo Olds boot posted on this site somewhere.....

Walt,

Did all of the non consolette 4-speed cars come with a retaining ring? Mine is an original and it never had a retaining ring. The boot has a lower edge that tucks up under the carpeting and is screwed into the floor from there. It doesn't appear to ever have had a retaining ring, or am I missing something that should be there?

Also, and I haven't looked yet, who sells the chevelle boots so I can try that? Thank you.

Chevelle boot:
There are two sellers on eBay, or buy from any of the Chevy repo suppliers.
GM Parts Direct has it for $16.54. Unsure how much shipping is tho.

From eBay description:

This Is The Lower Boot Held In Place With A Retaining Ring

Part Number 3842926

The retaining ring for this boot is pn 3903962.

65 may have used a different boot. Mark posted a pic on his over on V8Buick. I also posted pics of my '66 boot and the repo Olds boots:
