Can anyone tell me what there the correct factory markings under the hood for a 65 GS? Where there stamped letters on the firewall or grease pen markings. Thanks for your input. Vinnie.

Vinnie - I suspect underhood markings varied widely between manufacturing plants. Here are some markings I've uncovered:

I did locate some small stamped numbers in the middle of the firewall near the top that appear to be a part number.

Hi Vinnie,
Here's a couple of photos from my convertible. Just below the heater fan cut out is a "P" in a white grease pen. Below that on the slanted section, there was a "RW". It's a little difficult to see in this photos. After it was repainted, I did my best to duplicate the markings.
The second photo was taken of the same convertible after it was plastic media blasted. This was a Kansas City built GS. Note the 4FS.

Thanks for sending the information on the markings. The firewall in my car has been repainted and I am going to redue it and want to make it as correct as possible. Thanks again. Vinnie

Many of the markings are the same as the codes on the trim tags , Flint and KC
cars have these! alot of the time. On some of the GS's that I have parted you could still see them!
Also the unit number , line inspector initials, and other assembly line markings.
On my GS ( KC Built) you could still see the W for tinted windshield, the 2L for 4 speed, also a R/C in
both corners for the white painted top and red bottom (hidden by fender), unit number,
inspector intials! I will see if I can scan the pics of the firewall when I took my car apart!
