Title: Carter AFB Information
Post by: cwmcobra on March 01, 2010, 09:01:37 AM
Two questions this morning.  First, does anyone have a 1964 service manual that gives details on the carburetors used in that year?  Similar to the 1965 information attached.  I need to compare the two to determine what, of anything other than part number is different between '64 and '65.

Second question, does anyone have a Carter book that gives information on a F9453S carb?  This is one of the carbs I'm replacing and would like to know basic info like CFM and an application if its available.

Thanks!

Chuck

It is generally accepted that the AFB's that came on the nailheads are approximately 600 cfm (this includes the carbs on the 2-4's setup as well).   The ones that came on the 300 and 340 engines are alot less, but I do not know the number.

Thanks Brian.  I'd like to confirm that the carbs in '64 and '65 had the same jets, metering rods, etc.  I assumed they are all 600-625 cfm.  I think the one that I'm replacing is about a 450cfm so the '64 rear carb should perk it up a bit.
