Q & A / Re: nailhead rocker arms

The new rockers are not quality.
When you re-bush the rockers it takes material away from the most important area & makes them substanually weaker.
May be OK for weaker than normal valve springs BUT definitely not for ANY upgrades.
Just my thoughts.

Have some '66 & '67 also.

I just replace the wiper inserts. You can cut down 16"ers to fit. They have gotten hard to find but are avail on Amazon.
or...
Trico has a 'Classic' series. Avail from Rockauto for $21 each.

They are reproduced, I don't know what the quality is like.
Another option is to have them rebuilt with bushings and new tips.
There's a company in Calif which does the rebuilds:

You can try contacting TA Performance or Centerville Auto to see what they have available.

Loren, and all y'all.

I had blocked a large number of netblocks from various known malicious networks, but that info was overwritten during hosting maintenance.

I'll be working on it again, so it will be a few days and most of it will fall off.

But folks should never list email, phone numbers, addresses in the public side of the forum, only in Private Messaging.

If you have listed info in posts, you can edit them.

Q & A / nailhead rocker arms
« Last post by 35chevcoupe on May 02, 2024, 10:11:29 PM »
Hey all , wondering what everyone is doing for nailhead rocker arms . I was able to get new rocker arm shafts and i had some NOS rocker arms but not enough to finish both heads . The GM part number i,m looking for is 1187800 , thats the number on the box anyway and the last 3 digits on the rocker arm its self is 317 .
i,m using the BUICK cast aluminum valve covers so the roller rockers won't work .

Thanks Chuck, The Ebay listing was correct and he does have them in a set, and its here on the East Coast in NJ. It's $69.00 a set plus $14.50 shipping.
I have a real good parts supply store that I go to once every couple of months further east on LI. and I will be going that way next week, so I will stop in and ask if he has OR can get the blades that we need and post my findings.
