Fellow members,
The GSCA is sending me the original video, via the company that has the production rights, of archival Buick footage that they offered to their members years ago. This video was available for purchase through the GSCA for $30.00 or so but hasn't been available for years.
Because my father retired from Buick, I thought this would be a cool Christmas gift for him, not to mention that I'd like to see it myself. I haven't gotten it in the mail yet but should have it soon. I will be taking it Office Depot or someplace similar in order to have them copy it onto a DVD for me. I have no idea what this will cost but thought that I would offer to have extra copies made if anyone would like one while I have it.
The GSCA only asks that I have the video back to them by the end of December. If there is interest, I will make a copy for you and charge no more than the fee for the copy and shipping to your address. I will probably be making two for myself, just in case, and then I will be sending it right back. Please let me know if there is interest.
Happy Holidays to everyone.

I might be interested.... what exactly is on the video?
-
Walt,
This is according to their publication, the GS-Xtra. The video has a "shootout" between a stage one and a hemi, filmed in 1984.
It has a Channel 2 news segment, where the TV crew is in the ASC facility filming the production line of the GNX, and some interviews.
It has a GNX vs. Calloway Corvette from 1987. This is filmed at a drag strip in which the GNX beats the twin-turbo Vette.
July 1993 Hemi vs. Stage one, round 3.
GN TV commercials.
A 1970 GS 455 vs. a 68 Hemi Roadrunner street race.
1989 coverage of the first NMCA race featuring both GS's and Turbo Regals.
A "My classic car" feature of John Chamberlains 1970 Stage one.
A historical segment about the GS, narrated by Paul Zazarine and Tom Shaw. It has each of the GS models from each year along with narrative and examples.
And, according to the GS-Xtra, much more. I have never seen any of this but was told that the picture probably won't be perfect due to the age of the filming equipment, etc. It says that the video was 3 years in the making.

Jonesy, put me in for one. The late Paul Zazarine was one of my favorites. PM me for payment and mailing info.
Dan

Will do Dan. I'll get you some info once I have the DVD and make copies.
-
Jonesy, It sounds good.... I'd like a copy as well. Thanks!!!
-
Jonesy,
I have a question about this video. Is this a copy righted piece?
Loren
-
Loren. Its my understanding that it is copyrighted but I'm getting the DVD directly from the copyright holder.
-
Will you need a copy right release from them in order to make copies?
Loren
-
I'm not sure. I assume that because they've mailed it to me I have permission but I'll make certain. I've heard that places like Office Depot will ask to verify that prior to them making copies. If nothing else, I'll ask the company to FAX something over while I'm there.
-
Sounds like a good idea. Don't need any of us having to look over a shoulder.
Loren

I would be interested in a copy also, thanks.

Hey Jonesy,
I would be interested in a copy as well, your dad should get a kick out of the old footage, I know I will.
Just let me know the cost either PM, text or give me a call
Regards,
-
Will do. I hope to have it in the next few days. I'll let everyone know.
-
I am interested if you can get it authorized.
Mdkd
-
Will do Mdkd.
-
Put me on your list once the authorization to copy it has been granted. Since I'm in Canada, we can work out the details later. I do have a US shipping address should there be issues.

Memebers requesting a copy of the 'Buick Tape" video. I received the DVD video in the mail today and a hand written note along with it from the GSCA stating that there are no copyright problems because all of the material in the DVD belongs to the GSCA.
I scanned their enclosed narrative into a PDF file and am posting it here for all to see, and for those of you that I am making a copy, to print. This way I don't have to make hard copies to mail and we will all have access to the file for future availability.
I hope to have these copied and going out next sometime next week. I will purchase DVD/R negative blank CD's from Wal Mart and have a friend copy them. I will probably make 10 or so in case there are others here who may want one at a later time.

Another great addition to my Christmas list.

Any idea of the costs???
Tom T.
-
Tom,
A flat $5.00 regardless of where you live. My small Christmas gift to some of the members here. I'm not in to it for much so I can afford to do this.
I have to warn those of you that have requested a copy about the video quality. I watched it the other day, it's 118 minutes long according to the GSCA, and it's not great quality. And that's watching it straight from their DVD.
I still have to copy it to a computer and burn it to discs. That's another reason I'll sell them for five bucks with shipping. I have 10 recordable DVD's in jewel cases and small bubble wrapped envelopes that I'll mail them in.
I haven't looked to count the number of members yet, but if anyone wants one, up to 8 (because I want one and one for my dad) let me know.
-
So far I have Dan (dsags), Walt K (wkillgs), starc traxler, jim (jmos), mdkd (Milton), Tom B, and 2 for myself. Loren, did you want one? So Tom T (telriv), you would make 10.
-
Jonesy,
I'll round it out to 10. Let us know about payment.
Loren
-
Gottit Loren, 10 it is. I'll let everyone know when they are done.
-
It took longer than I had anticipated but the videos are in the mail. Sorry they weren't to you in time for Christmas. But, Happy New Year.

:headbang:
Mike,
Got my copy in the mail yesterday and just finished watching it.
