Title: engine parts
Post by: vinnie on April 20, 2016, 04:08:27 PM
We spend a great deal of time looking for body, trim and interior parts for our cars, but I never see anyone looking for engine parts. Is anyone building nailheads anymore? Several years ago I purchased two 425 engines mainly to get the 2x4 intakes. The engines were in pieces. I now have some odds and ends left and before I scrap whats there I thought I would list them if anyone is interested.

Oil filter adapter $65
3 blade water pump $20
Power Steering mount $20
Dipstick #1356562 (center sump) $20
Oil pump W/pickup (center sump) $20
2 Valley Pans $10 E

I'll take one of those oil pumps. We'll just use the crosstown shipping service.

Vinnie ,
I,ll take both sets as long as they have not been ground on at all . ( they need to be unaltered )
Maybe they would go in a flat rate box ?
let me know a total with shipping when you get a chance . ( no hurry ) and your preffered method of payment .

John, explain what you mean by ground on. Are you looking at the side of the rods? I will have to check, but I think it looks like they all may have been worked on. If you look at the picture of the three rods, look at the bottom of the rod. That is what I am talking about. I got these in a deal where I bought two 425 engines in pieces. Don't have any history.

Vinnie ,
the part i,m mostly concerned about is the very top of the small end of the rod and the very bottom of the big end of the rod .
I,ve seen these rods ground on in these 2 areas by people thinking they were going to balance them the way they balance rods for , lets just say a small block chevy . On buick nail heads that ruins the rods .
The area just above the rod journal ( where the rod starts to narrow )  is the correct place to do the balanceing procedeure .  Thats where the factory grinds them which is ok .
As long as the very top and bottom look ok we,ll be good . I couldn,t tell from the photos from the way the rods are laying .

John, that part of the rods look good, no sign of any work being done. I will get them boxed and get a shipping cost early next week. Will pm you later.
