GREAT FINDS are still out there guys!!  I am proof as well.  About 4 years ago, I was attending a BOP show in Kissimmee FL, a vendor fello had a beat up GM box, couldnt read the p/n or any id on the box...  and as I opened it, I immediately knew what it was... and he didnt.  he told me he's had this old box for many years, never being able to identify it.  Told me if I could use it, make him an offer to finally it off his hands...
He sold it to me for $50.

NOS 65 dash pad in Blue. P E R F E C T!!    :headbang:

No. sorry. its not for sale.   :nono:

A nos production style antenna was one of the things under my Christmas tree! This is one of three designs that are correct! This is the first nos production style antenna that I have ever had!(big ball on end) The two other styles are small ball and small ball with beveled grooves!

Dear Jon and mid-60s Buick owners who "have been good!"

A nos production style antenna was one of the things under my Christmas tree!

Golly, I didn't know that Santa had a big stash of NOS parts up at the North pole! :overthetop:

Seriously great find!  Thanks for sharing!

Was at the BOP swap at Kane County Illinois and picked up a very nice and straight set of wheel well trim, plus a set of GS vinyl top trim! For the Post car! The wheel well trim has smoke fire damage that I got two figure out how to get off so they can be polished! The vinyl top trim still shines good but does have some dings and dents can put on the car now and come back later and have it restored! :headbang:

Dear Jon and mid-60s Buick "treasure seekers,"

Yesterday's treasure hunt yielded red kick panels and dash surround and nice door panels! For the Post GS project! And a bent up front bumper core!

You are very successful!

(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif) . . . In fact, you are finding more goodies that d'em swell fellers are finding on Oak Island! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Curse_of_Oak_Island)  (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/rolleyes.gif)  Perhaps their problem is that they don't realize that the real treasure is classic Buick parts!! . . . . Always like dealers crest that have the name Buick or logo in them! From my out west trip! The Wyoming one is very unique as it is made from stainless steel! The Montana one was made by Douglas Stemac a company out of Minneapolis I believe.

From my second trip out west this month! A quaderjet carb and intake! And a convertible shell ( rust free quarters , trunk floor and perfect frame) for a future GS project!

You remind me of the fellow who finds all the very rare parts for the vintage travel trailers on the TV series "Flippin' RVs."  Maybe we need to get a network interested in a new show "Flippin' mid-60s Buicks!"  :hello2:

Well this is the car that started the madness! I first saw this car over 30 years ago go with my dad! Up until that time I had never seen a 65 Skylark much less a GS! We had been to countless car shows to!Even my dad who was a car guy didn't know what this car was! Dad what is that car!? I remember asking!I have wanted this car for a long time! it needs everything and I do mean everything. The car is a Flint built early car ,ps pb, auto, all tinted glass, radio, 3.08 posi, black - white top and saddle interior convertible! I need about a six car garage! and lots of $$$$ So after seeing this car the search was on! Spent probably a year or so looking for a 65 GS that was running and driving which lead me to my 4speed GS that I have had for close to 30 years! Just love the look of the body lines and those taillights!

Yes It is a small badge car! Code 1B also has remote mirror, door edge guards, custom seat belts and convenient group! I also think that it might be a original road wheel car to !

Also is a back-up light and dual speed wiper and washer car. This car must have some life left in it as it is fighting me all the way! Doesn't want to give up her parts! Lol

Found some more interesting things while dismantling the convertible! It has a 1966 GS MR coded block!which looks good and rebuildable, original was a LT code! Also the rear end is 3.90 four pin posi ! It would launch like a rocket with that rear! , but would be spinning some high RPM's

Title: Re: More Finds!

MR 272 6B 12???? Got to scrape off some more grunge! So it is from a Baltimore built GS! Which is different as not to many Baltimore built cars end up around here! This engine was put in over 30 years ago around here! I have not checked the date codes on the block and heads yet! But I would say it is from a early to mid build 66 GS!

Found some date casting codes on the motor mount pads L28 and M5,Nov.28th 1964 and Dec. 5th 1964 more documentation that this is for sure a early car! Maybe even in the first 100!

More differences with this car! There are no body mount bolts in the rear floor brace that runs in front of the rear seat? Only body biscuits! Also none  on top of the spring mounts? Big body biscuits here also? I know depending on what plant the bolts above the spring mounts are not always used! But no bolts in the rear floor brace? has got me puzzled? Anybody else have this experience? This is a Flint built convertible!

Picked up some finds of the carburetor kind! Got a 4179 stick carb for the Post car! We are hoping this helps it run better as it is the correct 65 GS late production replacement and correct for 66 GS stick carb! Also picked up a set of very rare stick dual quad carbs! :rocker: They will have to get kits and are hoping for the best!as they are very clean and move free!

Did Buick switch from the 3922 to the 4179 carb for 4 speed GS's during 1965?

...... no body mount bolts in the rear floor brace that runs in front of the rear seat? .....Also none  on top of the spring mounts? ......

I think they were all that way?
The mounts over the axle were a push-in 'puck' type with no thru hole for a bolt.
I'm unsure if the mounts in front of the rear wheels got bolts on the convertibles. I'd have to check the assembly manual.

My Carter book shows only the 3922 as original equipment, but both numbers as service carbs.  If the switch did take place during the 65 model year there should be a service bulletin or other documentation.

My 66 4 speed GS has a 4179S carb, with AAB below, and the service manual shows that one for a non Calif car, and I thinks this is the original carb.

Paging Jon!!
Jon, are you saying the 4179 carb is correct for a late 65 GS 4 speed car? Or just that it fits and works?

There's another 4179 on eBay, $149, condition looks half decent. There is some exhaust corrosion on the bottom surface.

Walt, I missed your post yes and yes ! The 3922 is the production carb for 65 and the 4179 for 66! The one I have is dated August I believe  but the vendors would have probably started making these prior to the next model year I think!? So maybe some got on 65's?

Roll out the barrels! Buick style! Just for you Chuck ! Set on the far right is a super rare 64 wildcat qaud setup for a 4speed car, next over 65 auto quad setup with manifold, then a 66 only Q Jet correct carb and manifold, and on the far left a 66 Qjet manifold with a replacement carb!

Thanks for the clarification Jon!

My 65 GS is a late late build (4th week of August '65) so was wondering if the '66 4179 might be correct for it.
I haven't been able to find a 3922 but have seen several 66 4179's available....I think I have 2 or 3 in stock but don't recall the date codes.

Sometimes I can't believe that there is still stuff out there! Anyways I needed a saddle auto console for the convertible ( one of the few parts missing). My buddy said I don't know if your going to find one!,just paint one! But I got lucky! Found a decent one ! It will need some of the chrome pieces replaced as they are rough shape but there are no cracks in the 50 year old plastic! Also
worked a deal on a mostly complete stick setup! No stick trans but maybe I will come up with something! You never know! :headbang:

:rocker: From my 6 state 5 salvage yard vacation! Couple more cool dealer crest! I would like to have one from each state eventually! And rust free 67 GS 400 frame that we will be using as a roller dolly when we start on the convertible body work! Wanted the body on a super straight frame for work and this will allow for the convertibles frame to be not under the body when works being done! Also will allow for the convertibles frame to be restored at the same time!

Just looks bad! The dirt was free! Lol It is in excellent condition compared to the over priced pos 's on evil bay! Needs a good cleaning, repaint in red of course!,maybe a new lid pad and rechrome of the front tab? No cracks or missing pieces ever! even the mount bracket and original screws came with it!

Some more cool pieces! A original excellent trunk badge with just a little fade in the red!,a  console emblem that is super nice ( no cracks) just dirt! The plate is junk!,and a rare unusual right hand remote mirror! All though this is not a Buick part,I plan to put it on the convertible! This is the same shape and look of the 65-67 left hand remote! I wonder if this wasn't made by a gm component manufacturer!? So far my Buddy and I have found a half a dozen of these !? But just on 65-66 cats and 225's? But maybe just a after market mirror from back in the day! It will have to be restored but is so neat!

Finding time is very difficult these days work, helping parent, siblings, friends, trying to take care of health! Work! Anyways picked up this dealer only piece at a swap! It was used at the 65 models announcement! Really neat! Skylark GS is  not included but Riv GS is as the announcement and literature would come later! This from the Milwaukee zone! Group 2 ? Which might be where dealers were placed in terms  of volume or group at the announcement?

Picked up a Correct T10 that will be a spare and help complete the extra stick setup I have been collecting parts for! Also a two fours manifold to go with the 64 cat stick carbs! Needs a cleaning and time in the bead blasting cabinet! And pair of driver bumpers that are good cores for plating

Picked up a set of not so mint lol correct 65 road wheels! The centers are still faded gray! chrome is a nice shade of rust! But rare and hard to come by as only about 5000 cars of the total special ,skylark, sport wagon production run had them! Also a set of very solid taillights ! But not for me, they are for a buddy ,he needs them for his convertible gs! Just noticed these are late 65 wheels full weld , polished centers not shot peened  and the 833 stamping not the 813!? Picture of the 833 and j5 stamping with the motor wheel stamp and unistyle script!

Blessed and lucky! For sure two of my best buddies parted Buick’s for a business they found and had many parts for me over the years! A couple other guys sold a lot of nos parts ! Also many 65 gs buddies I have known for years! My buddy Gil who is retired now helped me find many parts and I learned how to take many
pieces off the cars without wrecking them! He parted well over 300 Buick’s! We enjoyed also hitting the junkyards , probably went to 75 to 85 yards! We had lots of fun! My buddy Bob has also parted over 300 cars
went on two trips with him parts hunting!, fun plus I got to travel to some states that I haven’t been! He also helped transport my convertible home from Wyoming! My buddy Jim who passed away always called me when he found or had nos pieces! I enjoyed talking with him he was old school and a police officer at one time! I would see him at swaps! He use to hit yards also! At one of the swaps he had a mint dash pad ,was getting ready to put it out and said I thought you would be here! Another time he had just got in a nos gs oil pan ! I never complain or bickered about prices ,something I think he liked and probably a factor in him calling me first! Yet at another swap he says hey I got something for your but I didn’t bring them and There probably going to be to much for you! Well what you got Jim? A set of NOS wheel well trims! No way! After finding out the price and considering how much it cost to get dented ones redone they were cheap! I remember being at a swap and a guy had nos parts! I ask what else he might have for my car? I got headlight doors! Yes three rights but you probably don’t want them not being pairs!? I sure do! As I had three left nos at home ! Another swap a guy had a few nos pieces most people walk right by! I stopped and looked found a nos throw out bearing which are not easy to find! How much? $3 ! Couldn’t get the money out fast enough lol

Nice find Jon!  I continue to marvel at your ability to find hen's teeth.  Your sickness does come with some rewards!

So got some vacation time in finally! And did a little shopping! Got some nice smalls! A few pieces of trim, dealer crest, hard to find no cracked arm rest bases! Now if I can find a plater! But the big and expensive score were the 3 tilt columns! 1st floor shift very good shape!, 2nd Column shift needs little work, and 3rd column shift that needs lots of work or will be used for parts! Still can't believe some of this stuff is outthere!
