Could use some opinions on getting some pot metal parts rechromed .
When getting pot metal parts rechromed ( such as tail light assemblies , head light bezels etc. ) how badly pitted can they be , or can they fill the pits to make them look like new ?
-
John,
All the parts you mention can be rechromed. Just need to find a plating shop that will do it correctly and not just grind and buff it.
Loren
Oh, be prepared to surrender $$$$

More pits = more $$$$. Pays to find the best pieces you can.

Thanks Mark . Thats what I was wondering .
Sorry Loren , I didn't really word my question very well . I know they ( can ) be replated , was just wondering if the cost varied according to how badly pitted they were .

John,
No problem. No foul , no harm. :headbang:
The last pot metal I had done was a set of tail light bars 25+ years ago. The shop that did them ground them too much. Wasn't pretty. :BangHead:
Another shop destroyed a 2X4 air cleaner lid doing the same thing.
I should have elaborated more on it. I guess my point is..... Take the time to find a shop that is willing to do it right and be ready to surrender $$$.
