Title: My garage is empty now
Post by: Mister T on March 28, 2015, 10:44:17 AM
Earlier this morning, Dan and Loren arrived at my house to load the Bamboo Cream 65 GS I used to own. What began with an innocent comment on a different thread about my thinking about selling, morphed into a series of PM's, emails, and phone calls.

I have thoroughly enjoyed driving that car for nearly three years but it was just too nice to use as my summer daily driver.  My next car will be a convertible, preferably another 65, but one I can comfortably take to work and leave for a few days in an occasionally dusty parking lot. A four speed would be nice too.

Not in any hurry right now however. I have also considered 04-07 Mustang GT. Yes I know, sacrilegious for this group.  :icon_biggrin:

No sacrilege from my perspective.  Look at my signature!

Congratulations, it's going to a good home. It's a great car!  No sacrilege either, we just ordered a new Challenger.

Mister T

I didn't honestly see that one coming.

I know you had been looking hard for a convertable before you had a chance to pickup one of the most highly optioned 65GS I know of.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW QUEST!!!

We all know it has gone to a good home with DAN.

He can really make those 65 GS shine.

Milton, this all came about from an innocent comment I made on another thread. Dan PM'd me shortly afterward to start the ball rolling. We came to an agreement very quickly, but it nearly went south due to getting the car back into the USA. Seems that American regulations have become far more stringent in the past year, unless the buyer brings the car across the border themselves.  :angry5:

I'm going to relax for a few weeks, and then start looking again in earnest for a convertible, which is what I wanted 3 years ago when this car came available!!

The west coast Buick "crack spider", aka Chris P has already emailed me about one he thinks *might* be available.  :icon_biggrin:

Dan and Loren hope I do not stray over to the Mustang GT camp, as I do like those cars too.  :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

Mark

He sure is, but in a good sort of way.

It was great to see both he and Loren again, even if only for a brief time.

Crazy to cross the Canadian border during spring break ! Took longer to get to the booth to tell them I was importing a car than to have the paperwork done and the car inspected. LOL

Nice seeing you again Tom. Thanks for hunting us down to return my errant iPad. Got to Loren's at 10:15 last night after fighting a 25mph headwind the whole drive. Watch out for that CJP dude. He'll have you in a new car in no time.

Dan

I completely forgot about spring break.  :tard: Although that would explain why the US customs officer wouldn't help me when I called.

That errant iPad had me planning to chase you guys all the way to the border if necessary. There was a huge sigh of relief when seeing you headed back north before getting too far down the highway.  :hello2:

Glad to hear the paperwork process went so smoothly. I hope Manitoba's Highway 75 didn't jar your kidneys to seriously on Friday evening.   :laughing7: For those who've never ahd the pleasure of driving it, sections are in very poor condition, mainly due to periodic flooding from the infamous Red River. There are plans to finally elevate it above flood level over the next couple of years though.

I was amazed how easy it was at the US customs. And the agent that was helping us, very nice.

I imagine that having all the paper work in hand didn't hurt either. LOL

The strong head wind all the way back really took a toll on mileage and the 15 hour trip took a toll on us.

I've brought four cars across the border, three into Canada, and one into America. Knowing about having any possible necessary paperwork available makes it so much easier.

Glad it all went smoothly. Most Customs agents are happy to help you.

Hi Tom
Waiting for the weather to break so I can the ht. out. Per weatherman he is calling for another 2-4" tonight of that white stuff. On the sub. of potholes,we use Hondas and the like here in Pa. as temp. patches.
Surprised you sold the yellow ht., very nice looking car.
Good luck on your hunt for a conv.
