Just wondering what color black ( brand of paint ) are you guys using to paint your frame ?
In the past I've just used GM chassis black , is this correct or not ? :dontknow:

The original 'paint' was an asphalt-based product. You can get it here from Quanta products:

A more durable finish would be an epoxy product like the old DuPont dp-40. Was widely used by restorers.
I like the epoxy from Viking Paints in Mn. You can mix the gloss and flat blacks to get the level of gloss just right for the various components.

The Parts Place in the Chicago area sells GM Black Reconditioning Paint for $89 a gallon. It gets sprayed as mixed in the can - no diluting. It's an excellent match for the original satin black finish. As Walt says a base coat of epoxy is recommended.

Thanks guys . I think I'll just stay with that combination then , I like Dp90 and the GM reconditioning black I thought looked good as far as not being to shiny or too flat .
:cheers2:
