Title: New from Washington
Post by: GSDavid on August 30, 2009, 01:15:28 AM
I've been around this board for a little while but never posted.  Some of you will know me from the V8 site as 1967GS340, although I don't have that car any more.  Despite my name on here, I don't have a GS at all right now.  To tell you the truth I kinda like the plain old Skylark because I feel like I can do whatever I want to it and not be destroying a cool muscle car.
I've got a 64 Skylark that I'm planning on putting a 425 dual quad setup in.  Long ways from being at that point yet.  I'm going to do disc brakes, posi, suspension mods first.  Then comes the power, and then some fresh paint.  Hope to add a nice stock 65 to the mix at some point in the future also.  One day I will find the right 65 GS at the right time.
Great site here.

Good to see you here Dave. Don't let Walt fool you. He is right up there with some of the most knowledgable Buick people around.

We need to get you in a 65 to cruise while you build the 64!!!!

I think we are getting close for an upgrade and I'll look for a new smiley package that includes a smiley with a beer toast.. I agree that we need one.   ;D

I will have a 65, and eventually a 65 Gran Sport!  I'm still kicking myself for not getting a 65 GS manual tranny car when instead of the 64 I have.  It was my top dollar, it was rough, it wasn't numbers matching, but it was a real manual tranny Gran Sport and no major issues!  Non numbers matching would only open the door for a 425 transplant, and it would have been a straight swap into that car!!  Still kicking myself.  You just don't find a car like that in a price range that I could have done every day!

David, Bob G.  said he recently passed on a 65 GS 4 spd car, and will be keeping his 67 instead. Maybe he'll pass on his lead to you....

Walt,

That might be the one that I purchased a little South of Columbus Ohio a couple of weeks ago.

Going to have to wait until I have some more cash now.   Thanks for the heads up though.  Funny thing is, I sold my 67 to get the 65 Gran Sport, but between the rough condition and the fact that after I drove a couple hours to see it, when we took it for a test drive the guy drove it and never had me drive it, I didn't have a good feeling.  Plus when I got there he had it out for a short drive (it's been untouched in the garage for years).  When someone wants to get them warmed up and going before you get there, it makes me wonder.

Maybe next summer things will come together and I can have a few thousand in the bank for a nice 65 Skylark, or a deal on another 4 speed Gran Sport will come along at the right time.  I will have one eventually, and I would gladly put the 64 project off for another year or so to have one.
