Title: eBay guide on tire replacement - tire replacement based on age.
Post by: elagache on June 22, 2017, 04:07:25 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

The Team Chevelle newsletter had a link to this eBay guide on when to replace your tires:

http://www.ebay.com/gds/how-to-tell-if-it-s-time-to-replace-your-car-s-tires/58caf69c399d31084185ab47/g.html (http://www.ebay.com/gds/how-to-tell-if-it-s-time-to-replace-your-car-s-tires/58caf69c399d31084185ab47/g.html)

Most of what is covered is I assume common knowledge on forums like this.  The one bit that I was curious about is the recommendations based on the age of the tires:

Quote
An age limit for tires that’s commonly stated in the auto industry is 6 years, though several tire companies and automakers say that up to 10 years is acceptable with sufficient inspections. The overwhelming consensus is that tires should be replaced by 10 years of age.

That's good news for me because the tires on my trusty wagon are now 7 years old and I still can't get pass the obstacles that stand in the way of larger tires.  Hopefully they'll hold on until I can upgrade.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
