Title: will 1967 pontiac gto rear end fit my 1965gs automatic

Hi All,

Could anybody let me know if the below would fit my car?

1967 Pontiac GTO 3:55 Posi Rear End

Yes, it will fit.
The spring mounts are different on '67-up but I think the 65 springs will still fit.
64-66 had a flat spring pad and used a bolt and retainer plate to secure it to rear.
67-up had no retainer plate but the mount had a raised center which the spring sat around. Spring mount in frame is different too but is irrelevant here.

GTO rear may be an inch wider, you have to measure to be certain.

The GS used larger wheel bearings, and in 1966, larger diameter axles. Unsure what GTO used.

And if you want to be sneaky you could put the posi unit and gears in your 65 housing!I put a four pin 3.23 in my Post gs! Same unit as pontiac but came out of a sport wagon! Which no way would have fit under the GS!
These are stronger than the single pin one's which your gs came with!
