Title: Front bumper adjustment
Post by: nailr65 on February 14, 2011, 09:48:10 PM
Just installed a front bumper and it looks like at tips down while looking from the side.  Anyone know how to adjust this?

Other than loosening the frame bracket bolts to adjust it, I don't have much advise.
The grille tilt can be adjusted a little, that may compensate a bit.
But many of these old bumpers with the pointed nose are tweaked from being bumped. The nose is typically pushed up tho.

Thanks Walt.  The bumper looks great from the front of the car but it looks like its tipping down when you visualize it with the body lines from the front.  It is like this on both sides.  Could it have come this way from the factory?  I added some pics for reference.  Thank you for any advise.

Looks like the bumper is tweaked to me. If you tilted it up, so the ends looked straight,
the front/middle of the bumper would be too high. Common issue with these bumpers. If it's a rechrome, whoever did it didn't go through the effort of straightening it out.

From the pics of the front bumper, I agree with Mark that the bumper is tweeked.
It needs to come up so it follows the lines in the fender. Doing so, it appears the center of the bumper will be pushed into the grille.
If you could post a pic of the bumper center at the grille area also.Might help to shed a bit more light to this.

Mark this bumper was straightened and re-chromed.  The quality was outstanding.  Just needed time and patients. After bout 3 hours I got it.  Thank you Mark, Walt and Loren for your speedy advise.
