This poll is to determine the interest for a proposed BPG 65 GS fifty car reunion in 2015.
This year will mark the fifty year anniversary of the GS and would most likely happen in Columbus Ohio near the end of July or August.

The results of the poll will be displayed after you vote.
Thanks,

I too will be 50 that year!!!!! :occasion13:

I'm in and willing to help with ALMOST anything you need. :director: Tom
-
Tom.. can you define ALMOST?
I have a dog here that needs a bath.. my car needs an oil change... the garage needs sweep.. snow on the driveway and my wife is giving me that look..... yes, that look!
I'd rather eat pizza! :tongue3:
Tom, you walked right into that one! :argue:
Seriously, consider yourself recruited and standby on your orders.... and come take care of my wife and that look! Just use your key and let yourself in and let me know when not to be home.... and remember to bring your own towl!
:overthetop:
God.. I can't stop... :boxing:

I too will be 50 that year!!!!! :occasion13:
Joe, if you bring your car, we'll count both you and your car... now only 48 more to go! :occasion14:
Some things just get better with age and Joe and his 65's are just good examples of that! :rocker:
Chris

I will vote for:
'I will be there with a 65 or 66'
But I don't see that option. :dontknow:
-
Walt.... did I mention that they are banning all 66's from the show that year?
Come on man.. you've got five years, get that 65 on the rode and sell your 66's. :laughing7:
Chris

I will be there!
Mark

I will for sure be there if it is possible, cause no one knows how things look in 2015. I would be glad bringing a car but either should I be filthy rich by then or you guys will collect enough money for the container to ship it over and home again, so start saving :hello2:

I'm throwing in the first $5.00! :tongue3:
You'd almost certinally win the "longest distance" prize!
Chris
-
I'll throw in $ 5.00 and raise you another $ 5.00
Tony
-
We've now raised $15 to ship that car over here.
How many stamps do you suppose it'll take and does anyone have a really large envelope? :confused3:
Chris
-
I'd like to throw my hat in to go. Sounds like a great idea!
-
We should calculate around $3000 each way for the container. But don?t worry then I will just show up in person insted. I will too be at the Nationals in Bowling Green this year. Any of you guys in here going there?
-
I thought about going but haven't decided yet. If I go I'll probably drive down the night before and stay one day.
Chris
-
Oh, come on Chris, thats still 5 years.
Loren
-
Wow.. how did that happen?
I was answering back to another thread about attending the GS Nats this year.
Of course I'll be at BPG in 2015... I'll be the one running around trying to help organize the 65's and loving every minute of it. :laughing1:
Chris
-
Wow!, you had me concerned there for a minute.
We also will not be able to attend the GS nats this year due to a college graduation. The LAST one!!!!
Looking forward to next years.
Loren
-
Yes, will attend 2015...
Yes will be at Bowling green 2010 as well...with Wildcats :occasion14:

Gee Chris, I was thinking that I might have to round up a few "posse" members, and hogtie you into attending. :icon_biggrin: But then I noticed you corrected yourself. :hello2:
-
I will be there with my 65 GS convert 4-speed,hopefully I will also have my 65 hardtop 4-speed there also.
-
The idea is still alive guys and I'm going to push this year to get things started. :rocker:

A strong showing of cars at the Columbus show this year would really help make BPG realize how many of use 65 guys are out there.
Chris
-
I am still planning on attending this event. :rocker:
Now to get some cash together so my car will show itself better than it currently does. :help:
-
Four more years to save Tom. :laughing7:
Do you think you'll be driving your car down for the 2015 event?

I know it's been a while since I last logged on, but I plan on trailering my car down. At least by 2015, my mortgage will be paid down enough for me to draw a line of credit to finish the restoration. :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:
-
Awesome, I'll keep the coals stoked on this one and I'll be talking to the BPG guys this year.
18 cars planned to be there according to the polls.
Maybe 50 cars isn't as crazy as it first seemed. n :blob7:

Chris,
This is a lame "soft maybe". Yes I'm very interested, but it just depends on where / if I'm still in the Navy at that time. I'll commit to yes so long as I'm within a one day drive, maybe if it takes two-three days and probably no if it takes any longer to get there. Only time will tell.

Any way possible to consider moving this until sometime in the Fall so the weather will be more enjoyable. My favorite time to get my GS out is in late Sept/October. July and August are going to be smoking hot outside (having flashbacks to the BCA show two weekends ago where it was 106).

Unfortunately Brian I think the Buick Performance Group is stuck on this time of year due to track availability and weather that's more conducive to drag racing. I had originally suggested the BPG since they recognize Buick performance of all years and they traditionally honor a different year and make every year (I don't think the 65 has been recognized yet). I also leaned more towards BPG vs. the GS Nats because the BPG crowd seems more dedicated to the hobby and owners and the organizers of the GS Nats has ran many members away. I stopped going to the Nats because they always treated the 65 - 67 owners like second class citizens. I'll never forget the first year I went and they placed the 65's near the portable toilets. Dennis Manner was there with his camera crew and they wouldn't film most of the cars due to the scenery in the background. Adding insult to injury, a large part of the show field was empty and they spaced the 70's and 80's cars far apart to "fill in" the rest of the field.
We could consider organizing multiple events across the country so everyone has a chance to join in the fun however I know that for most of us, time off work and the cost of gas will probably limit us to one of two shows.
Ideas? :icon_scratch:
Thanks,
Chris

I didn't understand from the posting that this is being tied in with the BPG event--I was thinking the 65 GS 50th was it's own event. I got it now!

So I can put you down as a "Hell Ya I'll be there"?
I'll bring you a cooler full of ice and maybe even drop in a beverage of two of your liking. :occasion14:

If I could get my car on the road I would bring it to the BPG nats. But I am kinda slow worker. Typically I am on the track racing
-
Sounds like a great time. Count me in. Vinnie
-
thats the goal to have it done spring 2015
-
I will hopefully be there. Have a possibility of three to bring. GS. Sportwagon. Skylark race car. Unfortunately they are all in pieces. They might not look pretty but surely I can get one of them there.
-
Just a heads up that the BPG is considering having the Gran Sport's 50th anniversary celebration in 2014. There is currently a straw poll asking member for their thoughts on this. Not sure if it will happen, but typically the BPG tries to have a theme for each years event.
-
2014??? Not 2015. Ugh i lost a year. Guess i beter get busy.
-
I forgot to add that BPG might not be in Columbus next year. For those not at the 2013 event, we lost Saturday due to Mother Nature having a hissy fit. :icon_biggrin: NTR made the decision to close the track by 0800 due to rain, and recurring water seepage. Thus no racing or car show. So we partied most of the day at the host hotel. :occasion14:
The BPG executive is considering a different location for 2014, but likely staying in Ohio.
-
A big YES, I'm in. Glenn

Brians post today about the 50 year anniversary made me start thinking about what has actually been planned for next year. Has anyone heard of any commitments from any of the clubs that the 1965 GS will be the "car of the year" next year at any events? Next year no only marks the 50 year anniversary of the GS but also Buick performance. If none of the groups have considered this, we need to start planting some seeds now if it's to happen. I would still love to see 50 cars show up at one of the events and selfishly I would love to see this happen at the BPG show in Columbus.

Count me in to attend. With Mr.T's Brown HT. if the conv. is not finished. 50 65GS's in one spot, AWSOME!

Maybe we'll have a 65 by then?
-
I will definitely be there with my 65 Vert, it's about a half hour from my home.
-
Yes - I'll attend with car in tow. By the way where is it? At BPG Columbus? Any chance we could get a race class. I'm proud to show the old girl but it would be great to race against other Nailhead powered Gran Sports. OK we could have a class for the 445 conversion guys too, I guess....

ok an update..the 50th Anniversary will be at Summit Motor Sports Park in Norwalk OH May 30th at the track with a BBQ. It will be open to all Buicks with a GS Badge but the 65's will have a place of honor...
-
I will be there with my 65 GS convert 4-speed,hopefully I will also have my 65 hardtop 4-speed there also.
Starc, let me know if you are in need of a driver for the second car.
-
With the BCA nationals following less then two weeks after, it is one or the other for some folks.
I guess timing is everything and I find myself making a choice. Hopefully both events will have a good turn out of our beloved '65s.

On the 50th anniversary show, Just wondering if there are going to be unrestored cars there too. Trying to decide weather to load my 65 up and bring it over. It isn't great, outside doesn't look to bad (lower quarter rust, vinyl top mostly off). It does run and drive and stops. I might say it would be a survivor car as I don't think its ever had work done to it. other than a olds 455 that was installed in the mid 80's. but everything was saved and now back in its rightful place.
-
Hi David,
Im going to assume that there will be some unrestored cars at Springfield. But the #1 reason to go is the people
that will be there. I've been to 3 BCA Nationals in the past 9 years with no car, and had a blast.

Maybe you guys can try to get a picture of each 65 GS!
