Tail Light Gaskets
« on: February 01, 2010, 08:04:42 PM »
I was recently asked if we was going to reproduce the body to tail light gaskets for the 65.

I bought some of these a couple of years ago but now cannot remember where I got them from.

Does anyone have a source for these so I can pass this lead on?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Metro Moulded. I believe they still make them. No part number off the top of my head.

Chris,

They appear to be available from Metro at this time. They include the inner and outer gaskets for $38.25.  Very reasonably priced.

Last year I did a cost analysis of what it would cost for me to make them. With the cost of the dies, materials, labor, packaging and shipping costs, it was cost prohibitive for me to proceed.  Since someone else is already producing them, there is no way to compete with the $38.25 from Metro.

I contacted Metro and it doesn't appear that they are producing or selling these any longer.

Chris

I just checked their site, www.oldbuickparts.com   Page 35, part number TLG-65S.  It looks like the rear gasket set is still available.
