This sale may be over, the codes aren't working today. Might be an April special???
Anybody else buy a system??
Installed mine today. Took what appears to be the original system off of my 66 GS....mufflers were date coded 01/66. :cheers2:One was blown up a bit, and rattled when shaken....it's seen better times.
I hated the sound of the stock system....it rapped when you got on it. Fairly loud at idle too..
Dynaflow system went on fairly easy. Had to drill out one of the muffler hanger bolt holes in the rear crossmember to 1/2". That's the only mod required to an original car. Hated to do it but....
Front spread from the 'x' pipe was perfect for the cast iron manifolds. To my delight, the extra tailpipe options supplied with the system were perfect for the necessary exhaust manifold downpipes! I used the short tailpipe extension to connect to the left side exhaust manifold (it's a straight shot)....cut it to fit, and flared the end a bit Had to open up an original ex flange to fit the 2.5" pipe. Used some copper silicone for a sealant, and bolted it it to the manifold. Perfect.
For the right side, I used the 'downturn' tailpipe to attach to the manifold. no cuts....flaired the end, opened up the original flange, and bolted it on with some silicone sealant. I did NO mods to that tailpipe piece, but did shorten the 'X' piece to accept the longer tailpipe piece.
Tailpipes presently hang too low. I'll address that on Sunday. I think cutting an inch or two off of the over-the-axle- pieces will raise them to where I want them.
I did fire it up to put it back in the garage....A nice rumble replaced the rapping of the stock system.
Test beat report report will be on it's way!!
Pics will follow when it;'s complete....
