65 GS Convertible on Hagerty
« on: December 11, 2024, 06:50:15 PM »
Anybody familiar with this car (Not Mine!)

https://www.hagerty.com/marketplace/auction/1965-Buick-Skylark/01d0ea22-133f-47d7-b315-c31e8be7cd07

Looks like a nice one, would like to see it go for a lot of money, as I'm considering selling mine (just not using it all that much).

Hi ,it'll  be interesting  to see how it goes. Put I think 700 miles on ours this year .would let it go for $48,500.right now planning on listing with hemmings in spring.Jim

Your car must be a lot nicer than mine......I wouldn't expect mine to go over $30K, probably a bit less.

FYI?.it?s a 65 GS that they are advertising with a 455. The market seems a little soft for anything currently but if you are looking at buying a classic car or any car for that matter?.be careful. There are too many cars that were lipsticked to death that are being compared to somewhat correct cars. Does anybody else see the fact that the body lines don?t even come close to lining up and the bondo in the lower quarters and lower door areas is just shiny enough to see in a distant pic. Somebody out there will likely pay at least half of what they could have bought a nice car for. In todays world that car would need at least 25K in bodywork to park it next to most of you guys cars. Getting burnt in that fashion has turned a lot of guys away from collector cars and the guys that have nice ones are usually laughed at when they try to sell theirs because of unrealistic values of lesser samples. Large auction companies and other advertisers want to sell and do not care how informed their buyers are.  There are three ways to own an investment type car?.you either have owned a low mileage car and taken care of it,built it from ground up,or paid the price it cost for quality. Don?t waste your time or money on shiny restoration projects?they cost way too much to restore and you will not even come close to breaking even.

You are absolutely right on the quarters and stuff Dan. Too bad because it would be a cool car and color combination! Keith, your car looks nice, post up more pics!

Looks like black carpet instead of grey ,wrong seat belts but if it's listed as a custom  you can do what you want .there was a 65 gs 4sp hdtp 61,000 on fb in Georgia that just listed as sold they were asking 45,000.jim

I'm find the trunk carpet interesting. Has anyone ever seen such a kit?

I have the reproduction woven mat that was installed at the factory. But I've never seen carpet in the trunk of a Skylark. I'm sure there are others that have seen way more than I have!

Probably just trimmed to fit carpeting?.The car looks pretty decent especially at its current price?I just get tired of all the hype over mediocrity. Someone dumped a ton of time and money into that car and got a so so  example of a 65 GS. I actually think it is an original GS looking at the pics. At its current price I could see me wanting it?.I would think it wouldn?t be that terrible for a body guy to make it nice. It looks like a frame off resto that went a little in the wrong direction. The trim tag looks like a typical GS optioned car. A little block sanding with alignment tools and a 425 nailhead would turn that into a car to be reckoned with. The  dash colors and Oldsmobile shifter may have to go?.lol.
