Bucket seats question ?
« on: August 05, 2024, 08:48:51 PM »
Anyone know if the bucket seats for 65 Gran Sports are interchangeable from side to side other than the seat tracks ?
they are working on my convertible seats and it never dawned on me that both my seats have the lever on the right hand side of the seats .

Hi,

Yes the same, for years I ran a passenger 64 and 65 seat in my post car, guessing that they had less wear and weren't ripped up is why I got them in a parts lot.

Also bench seat tracks can be used on 1 side just need to shorten the cable that locks the passenger side track, factory buckets only have 1 latch on 1 of the tracks.

On my convertible, the driver side (left) seat has the adjustment handle on the left, and the passenger side (right) seat has the adjustment handle on the right. Are you saying both seats should have the adjustment handle on the same side? That one seat would have the adjustment handle between the seat and the console?

I think John was just asking  about seat differences. Seats are the same 64-5 with only difference being driver side track and passenger side track ?..the non handle track is same left or right. Handles are always facing door if they were factory and as stated the bench seat tracks will work on driver side. After 66 the seats had safety latches and the upper section is left or right only.

Hi again,

Guess I wasn't clear, 64 & 65 seats are the same and can be used on either side, only difference is seat tracks which as stated handle us on door side. Bench seat tracks can be used on and in replacement of drivers side track.

Yeah so to clear up my question both my seats have the adjuster knob on the right side of the seats , that puts the drivers side seat adjuster in-between the seat and the center console or drive shaft hump . That doesn't,t seem right , I'm guessing the drivers side seat got switched out at some point .
So as long as the seats them selves are interchangeable all i should need to do is get a different drivers side seat track i,m thinking .  :dontknow:

I'm sure I have some extra seat tracks, John. I'll check it out and give you a call.

Yes, you are correct about needing the driver side seat track. Hopefully you have the '65 release handle knobs.
