Very sorry to hear about the accident. The picture was horrific. Take some time and see what the insurance company says. But, it does look very bad.

So sorry Tony to hear about your accident,

It has been said and is of scant comfort I'm sure but at least you weren't injured.

We do get attached to even things like cars.  Know that we are standing with you in your loss.

Do make an extra effort to enjoy the Buick Club of America meet.  It should be a healing experience.

Sorry to hear about this but glad you are OK! I lost the right rear tire on a 66 GS years ago on a two lane highway and slid into the ditch. Ruined the quarter panel but the rest was OK. Somehow the lug nuts came loose.

Yes, the Red GS is gone as far as a running Buick. But after talking to several long time Buick (BCA members) that gave me a call today. And all the overwhelming support I get from everyone on this Registry site, there should be absolutely no reason why I cannot get another 65 GS and start over.  Lets see what the insurance adjuster says.  I may have a whole Buick parts car to pick from.
So I would say yes ! I'm back in..... as of July 10th: Wanted 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport ! A GS with a solid frame needing some sheet metal work & paint, but no rust buckets please, with or without a motor, I would prefer a post coupe but will consider a hardtop. This is going to be a low budget build, so expensive hi quality Gran Sports are not what I'm looking for. A low budget GS that needs to be saved for the next generation of Buick lovers is what I'm looking for. I will be posting a GS wanted sign at the Buick National Meet.

A Big Thank You goes out to everyone. I really do appreciate the support. I'm out of my slump & back in...Go Nailhead.

     Tony

Dear Tony and 65GS.com faithful (and those with a funny bone . . .  . :laughing7:)

. . . .

. . . . You can't do that!  Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick . . . wagon? . . . .

Seriously, that's the spirit!  I hope you find another 65 GS soon so that you can start the restoration once more.  It is time to get right back on the bicycle!   :icon_thumright:

Hi Edouard, Back in 2011 I was gifted a 65 Skylark with the sky roof. One of our older Buick chapter members was going into a old age home and requested that I receive the wagon. The family paid for the flat bed service to my house, so I had no complaints. The wagon was a 34,000 mile original, but it was left outside and the Long Island weather was not very kind to it. The body was holding the chassis together !! And it made an awful crackling sound as it came off the flat bed. It was rusty, dirty & nasty but it gave me plenty of parts to share with others. With a little work I was able to get the engine running, It was donated to a 65 Skylark hardtop project here on Long Island. The only part I still have from it is the original front sway bar. Hopefully that will be sold this week at the BCA National meet. So I would say that I did own a Skylark wagon, be it only for a month... Oh I forgot to say that the rear of the Skylark Wagon was full of 65 Skylark parts.. I was lucky... :BangHead:

Dear Tony and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Thanks for sharing your wagon story.  This hobby is in a strange place in a way.  There is a scarcity of cars from this period that either are restored or still can be.  At the same time, there are other examples of cars rusting away before they can even be saved as parts cars.  I don't know how this situation panned out for earlier years, but I assume cars from the 1960s are headed for the same fate as the cars from the 1950 are now.
