401 2X4
(1/1)
schlepcar:
I know it has been discussed before but I am not sure if the answer is unanimous. Was the 2x4 carbs available as a regular option on the 401 or was it a dealer option? I have heard it both ways and I was also curious as to how it performed vs. the single AFB. Has anyone ran it both ways and compared it as far as driveability or power? I have been considering going with the setup but not sure I can justify it in my head just yet. The car seems to start and run very well as-is and I did not want to go backwards.

Believe that dual quads was only available as an ‘over the counter’ option. Have not seen anything on order forms that would suggest it was available as a factory option.

There are a Technical Service Bulletin and Zone Bulletin issued in 1966 for installation and adjustment in the 65-66 Skylark GS. It states that the 2 x 4 induction system was not available from the factory or dealer installed in the Skylark GS.
See attached TSB and Zone Bulletins.

Some good info there?thanks guys. You always run into the guy who tells you that it came that way or special ordered from so and so. I do not think I have seen any documentation that would suggest that. It just adds that cool factor that looks right in place under the hood.
