AFB heat shield baffle plate
« on: July 27, 2021, 09:01:49 PM »
on the 65 GS with AFB that has a tendency to boil out after running I have plans to install rebuild and install a new base gasket and  heat  baffle plate. Does the baffle go between the base gasket and carb or does it sit on the intake then the gasket?

The stainless steel heat plate goes against the base of the carburetor. The gasket goes between the plate and the intake manifold.

Thanks for the clarification, I should be set now to finish the rebuild and install the baffle correctly. I know years ago during a  carb rebuild I must have discarded the baffle not knowing its purpose. Hopefully when finished this time i will have solved the hard starts. One good thing was the inside of the carb was clean since there was little if any gas left in the  bowls.
