Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I finally got around to looking at my July 2020 issue of the Buick Bugle and on the back is an invitation to submit a photo of your Buick to be possibly included in a 64-page October "National Meet Issue."  The premise is that people who were planning to attend this year's convention should instead send a photo so that our club magazine could virtually cover the convention that "would have been" before COVID-19.  The photos should be sent to the Bugle editor either by "snail mail" or digitally.  Full instructions are on that back sheet of the July issue.  There is one catch.  The deadline isn't far away: August 1st, 2020

Is anybody planning to submit photos of their cars for this special issue of the Bugle?  There is no way I could have attended the convention, so I'm inclined to leave this for the folks who had planned to go.  My only worry is that this is of such short notice that the Bugle might end up being a bit short on material.

A curious mind would like to know!  :idea1:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Hi Edouard, I did not receive my July Bugle yet. I was not planning on going to this years National Meet but the Idea that the members that were planning on attending submitting photos is a good one. And yes they have less than a month to do so. Bugle Editor Pete Phillips works very hard to give the members a quality magazine. Lets hope the members come thru and submit those photos. My Chapter meeting is this Thursday, I will make sure I bring up this subject because I know many of our chapters members were going to attend this years meet.   Lets all hope that 2021 is a better year  :icon_thumright:

Hi Tony and owners of photogenic mid-60s Buicks,

I did not receive my July Bugle yet. . . . . .

What happened?  Magazines getting to the "left coast" before the right?  :laughing7:

Okay you make a good point.  Pete really works hard to give us a great club magazine.  I don't have a photo of Biquette that would really work a virtual convention.  So I'll try to get her out and take something suitable.  Better to swamp Pete with too many photos than not enough!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Hi Edouard, Yes it is true ! The mail heading to the NYC area is very slow.. I think when the mail gets somewhere in PA the mail gets transferred to Model T mail trucks and when they reach the mountains in PA on route 80 the trucks have to stop and drive in reverse, because Model Ts can't go up very steep hills forward. Once they reach the Delaware Water Gap they start driving forward into NJ until they reach Washington Township, that's where the drivers take a break and the Model Ts get overhauled for the long stretch on route 80 to the George Washington Bridge where they all overheat while waiting 3 hours to cross the bridge into NYC. Finally they get over the bridge and are now in traffic on the famous Cross Bronx Expressway, dodging potholes and getting cursed at in 122 different languages. But they are almost there just one more bridge ! As they approach the Bronx/Whitestone Bridge they realize the grade is too steep so the all have to pull over and go reverse over the bridge to the large USPS distribution facility just over the bridge in Queens NYC. They unload the mail, sort it out and it goes by horse & wagon to the local post offices where it gets sorted again and you get it a week later, maybe ! :laughing7:

I should have my copy of the July Bugle by sometime in August  :help:  Tony

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Busy, busy, busy as I am, I managed to get out my trusty wagon for a quick photo shoot this Wednesday.  I submitted the results to Pete Phillips yesterday for the BCA virtual convention issue of the Buick Bugle.  He reported that the photos were slow to arrive at first, but now they were coming in as a torrent!  So we can look forward to an October issue of the Buick Bugle as close to typical as circumstances permit.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
