Time for indoor activities!
« on: November 02, 2019, 12:34:45 AM »
Thought you guys might like some pictures of the frame repair we are
doing on a boxed frame in the motor mounts area! So rough jagged edges were ground down and fitting process begun! Another clean cross member chunk was sourced from another frame! Right side is fitted and ready to be welded in! Tomorrow and the left side is next!

So what caused the failure? That looks like a fatigue break. Did the whole chunk pull out? So I'd guess the plan is to stick or MIG it? Id get it lightly tacked where ya want it, then make it nice and warm with a propane torch. That'll make it easier to weld (warm) and also dry the moisture out. Dont forget to clean the crud out; even on the inside so the process doesnt pull the junk up into the new weld.

Wishing you the best on this one and hope those motor mount holes line up "exacto" LOL.  Didja consider a torque chain to the upper control arm shaft? 'Just sayin...  Bill

As they say... "Grind to fit and paint to match...". Looks like a decent job. Was the steel that fatigued to fracture like that? Didnt find any sockets or fasteners down at the bottom didja?   :hello2:   Bill
