Are they for on the pinch weld under the rear bumper?

Seem to recall something like that.

Loren, that was discussed, but what function did they serve? The red paint means they were somewhere
partially exposed to the exterior.

They are bumpers for the bumper to prevent scuffing
They work especially good when you are using a bumper jack!

I thought Jon would know that one.

I only remember them on maybe just one of the many parts cars I've had.

All 66's I have seen have them.  Never seen them on a 65, but they will fit and function just the same on a 65.   Keep the bumper from hitting the body when it flexes if it is hit lightly or when using the bumper jack as already stated.

The slide over the pinch weld on the body behind the bumper under the rear taillights.  They go over close to the edges--in the area where the body and taillights curve rearward.  Once the bumper is on, you can barely see them if at all.   They usually have paint on them because most body shops take off the bumpers when they paint a car.

Can anyone tell me if they re-produce that rubber strip that goes in the bumper, just over the gas filler?  Also the clips that hold it to the pinch weld?

Thanks,
frank
