Located in Vermont. Looks like a very nice car. Would say that combo is very rare.

Very nice!

It has an extra pair of shocks mounted on the lower control arms. I've never heard of that being done! Anyone else familiar with this setup?

Might be a good idea to control wheel hop,not sure if you would need another crossmember up top or just bolt them to the existing frame. I never saw SW(four door) arm rests used on the front....apparently they fit and don?t even look bad. That car looks like it has always been in a dry climate, very nice shape even underneath. I have a question about the center console......Why do some of them have a push button on the lid while others have a Buick emblem?

Yes ,those are four door or wagon rear  arm rests! Bases are the same and padd bolt up! There are two different versions of the bases! To answer the storage console ? Let's start with the first version which is the iron board style used 64 to early mid 65! They sit to high to be used in the 4 speed and three speed GS's so they used the second version! Which is the trishield! This was used 65-70! The third version is the push button 71-72? Then comes the fourth version no push button 73- 76? Might be a little off on the years for the third and fourth version! The height and shape vary from small car to big car also!

Dear Jim, Dan, Walt, Dan, Jon, and mid-60s Buick appraisers,

Thanks Jim for the pointer and Dan for the link.  Indeed it is a nice car with only tasteful "mods."  I'm curious though, does anybody understand what is this "canister" type object in front of the radiator in the lower right of this picture:

It is immediately to the left of the hood latch.  I've never seen anything with a Tri-Shield logo in the front of an engine bay like that. Any ideas?  :icon_scratch:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Edouard,

My guess is that it's a homemade "puke tank", radiator overflow container.  Like many off these cars, might have experienced overheating in the past so added the overflow tank and personalized it with the Tri-Shield.  I'm sure others might have additional ideas....

Enjoy a great weekend!

That could be the very rare GTO whoop a$$ fluid storage tank option.   But then Chuck is probably correct, it's a radiator overflow reservoir.

I was thinking the canister was for overflow too but I do not see any hose going to it. If it is for that it may have been added so they could run the car on a track. Overflow is required to keep fluids off the racing surface.

Dear Chuck, Kevin, Jim, and mid-60s Buick appraisers,

Thanks for the suggestions.  A coolant recovery tank seems like s plausible suggestion, but indeed there is no sign of a hose and it would be an odd location for the tank.  There should be space on the other side which would be more convenient.  The other oddity is how fancy it is.  I can't tell if the Tri-Shield logo is period or modern, but it is in great condition.  Whatever it is, somebody went to a surprising amount of trouble to make something this decorative.  I do hope they are satisfied with it, because it leaves me mostly puzzled!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Id go with the overflow tank too. The BADLASS has the battery on the pass. side, and the new crossflow radiator cap is over there as well with zero room for a tank unless fastened to the inner fender.
Look at some of these with hose connections on the bottoms and bolted into the hood release frames etc.  I kinda like the look on the one above.   Bill

So is the 65-72 same other than the lid?  I know that I have a push button console, but I could not remember where it came from.

Radiator right up to port edge of engine bay? (Was: 65 GS on eBay)

Dear Bill and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Sorry to digress on this thread, but just for my education.

The BADLASS has the battery on the pass. side, and the new crossflow radiator cap is over there as well with zero room for a tank unless fastened to the inner fender

I'm a bit confused.  Is the radiator on BADLASS wider than the the 1965 Buick radiator?  For a while Biquette had a coolant recovery tank on the port radiator support.  Here is what Biquette's setup was like:

So you don't have this space on BADLASS?

A curious mind would like to know!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Absolutely Ed! The new radiator filler is just above the battery on the starboard side and I have all the room in the world on the port (sans the horns). Just hafta run the O.F. hose across the radiator to get to the bottle. Thats also where the washer bottle will ultimately go. Thoughts or ideas?  I bought a universal Dorman tank thatll never fit by the battery; maybe across the pond??   Bill
