Quarter Window Install

I recently broke my quarter window trying to re-install it. After breaking the bracket and swapping the glass.

What is the correct way to reinstall the glass. As I was working it seemed like the best way was to drop the bracket and glass into the body (without breaking it) and then insert the rollers into the channels starting lowest and working up.

Is this correct? This time I would really prefer to not break the glass.

I asked on the "other" board and nobody replied.

Tough place for a pic. But this is the bottom track. I am wondering do I start there or start at the top of the track.
I'm guessing anyone who has done this before would know.

Sorry that nobody has answered your question.  However you might find some information that will help you in the 1965 Buick body manual.  It is online:

If you don't have paper copies these manuals, you might consider buying them.  They come up used on eBay for a very reasonable price.  OPGI and  Faxon Auto Literature both have reproductions.  I'm not sure the reproductions are the best route since they have some watermarking that can distract from the diagrams.  My Dad bought the service manual when we bought our wagon back in 1968.  I picked up a used copy of the Body manual some years ago and that's good enough for me.

I will check them. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to do. I'll put up a photo when I'm all done.

The manual you show here is for a Chevrolet. Does that matter?  There are references to several different  models. If our Buicks are the same as the Chevrolet, what model should we be looking at?

Got the book out. (why didn't I do this first?)

Gives a play-by-play.

"CAUTION: Support window to prevent it from dropping when cam is removed."

It also says to 'disengage side roof rail weatherstrip from weatherstrip retainer above quarter window' (that will be fun)

. . .  GASP!  Did you try bobby pins?  Gorilla tape?  Chewing gum? . . . . . .AHHHHH!!!  ANYTHING but actually having to read the instructions!!!

If anyone needs help here - I'm going the whole nine yards.
New glass. New glass setting tape into bracket. Re-install, adjust.
I have accurate measurements now too as I had to buy a digital caliper to get the correct setting tape.

I find through trial and error that R093 glass setting tape from Restoration Specialists is the correct size to set the quarter window into the frame (bracket). I do not know if it would be the same for the front windows. Probably.

The tape is wrapped around the bottom of the glass and then set into the frame. My plan is to use my workmate to hold the frame so that I can push the glass down into it. Maybe a little silicone to help lubricate.

got the bracket and glass all in. It now appears that the reason the roller broke in the first place was because something was really wrong. The glass pushes outboard. The other quarter glass does the same thing.
I had someone propose that the regulator is worn. Knowing nothing about these, I don't know why this would happen. But for sure something is fundamentally wrong.
These are quarter windows so in all honesty they don't get used much. But it would be nice to get them to roll up and down smoothly. There are times I like to roll all the windows down when I go driving so I can feel the wind, hear the engine, feel alive.

got the bracket and glass all in. It now appears that the reason the roller broke in the first place was because something was really wrong. The glass pushes outboard. The other quarter glass does the same thing.

Definitely sounds like something serious amiss here.  Unfortunately, I don't know a thing about the two-door Buick A-bodies.  Can anybody offer some insights here?
