See pic attached.
They clamp to the mufflers + hangars in front of the rear axle.

Joe, what system are you installing?
Gardner Exhaust offers a reproduction system for the 65-66 GS. A little pricey but it's of exceptional quality!
Other systems for a 64-72 may have tailpipes that are not long enough to reach the rear bumper of a 64-67.

I've got a Waldron's system on our GS.  Good fit, just need to emphasize it is for a GS when you order it. The first set they sent was for a Skylark. Too small diameter pipes.

I bought a system from summit MagnaFlow Street series, I was going to buy Gardner, but I was to cheap and conceded it was going to be to quiet.
I hope I bought the correct system.
Thanks for all the help!

I bought a system from summit MagnaFlow Street series.....

I put the Magnaflow #15893 on my red '66 GS. It's a nice system, but a little loud for me so I replaced the mufflers with Walkers.
That system gives you extra pipes for different tailpipe outlets.... straight out back, turned down, and I think out to the side. The extra pipe was enough to connect the system to the exhaust manifolds. I can post some pics of the install later.

Another Gardner system audio of mine. Turbo mufflers from Gardner. Cam has 110 lobe separation. It's at about the 1:30 mark that the exhaust is best.

Its is quiet at cruise. Yeah, they are pricey.

50 series deltaflow's on a custom exhaust.  Don't recall the cam specs, but it was Russ Martin approved.....

Are the tailpipe tip location the same for 66 GS? The picture Mark posted is a good one to see how the tips should look. Also, are the gas tank straps black phosphate? and the same finish on 66, thanks Bill.

I believe the straps were painted black, possibly dipped.  I painted mine with GM Chassis Black paint.

Cheers!

Bill, Gardner uses the same system for 65-66 GS.
Here's a pic of the original exhaust on my red 66..... amazing that it lasted so long, car spent it's first 3 decades in California.

Joe, the Magnaflow has straight thru mufflers, I believe 14" long.
For me, it was too loud at cruise....hard to hear music or have a normal conversation in the car. I did call Magnaflow about the higher-than expected noise level, but they wouldn't give me any trade-in credit for used mufflers, so I bought the 20" Walker super turbos. It did require cutting/welding some sections out of the mid pipes to accommodate the longer length.
