Dear George and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Wondering what you guys would do, rebuild the existing 300 or buy a crate motor? Been getting some pricing on rebuilds, not as cheap a when I was 20 years old.
Unfortunately the Buick 300 is an oddball engine, but you can get good performance out of it and there are some speed options if you want more
omph!If you want to get more on the cheap, you could try to get your hands on a running Buick 350 engine. They were manufactured for many years and lots of guys swap them out to go with a big-block, so you might find one that is running for a reasonable price.
I know crate motors are economical and come with a warranty. Still this is a Buick not a
"chebby." I'm still bleeding trying to keep my Buick all Buick, but if you can try to do the
same! . . . .
Cheers, Edouard
