Bench seat & upholstery questions
« on: May 25, 2016, 12:27:06 AM »
I am not sure if I should rip the upholstery off my front bench seat so I can clean it up and get an estimate. The seat frame is a bit rusty, so I think I might be better off knowing the condition before I ship it off to someone.

On the other hand,  wondering if I would be better off trying to find another one.  Are all these front bench seats the same, for the A-body cars?

Has anyone installed seats from another A-body in their 65?

Dear George and mid-60s Buick upholsterers,

I do not have the upholstery yet. I presume they sell kits?

Yes they do.  Two of the more popular sources are Legendary and Original Parts Group.  Both companies tend to have sales around major holidays.  If you want to jump on this, both are having a sale now.  Your next opportunity to get a discount would probably be for the fourth of July.

Cheers, Edouard

Dear bobby and mid-60s Buick upholsterers,

Okay I know that OPGI sells all sorts of other manufacturer's stuff, but I didn't know that their upholstery kits were also by someone else.  Do you know by chance who is the original manufacturer?

Yes indeed the word on the street is that Legendary is the place to go if you want the best.  I have a friend working on a 1964 Skylark and he also went with Legendary on the seat upholstery.  He wasn't sure about the headliner though.

Dear Bobby and mid-60s Buick parts hounds,

pretty sure OPGI sells PUI

Thanks, I try to pigeon-hole what parts are coming from which manufacturer as much as possible.  It helps me "guesstimate" when buying a part from an outfit like OPGI would be a better choice.
