Yes it is a skill/ trade that is fading.
The place I retired from has a very difficult time finding upholsterers. Not a lot of young people interested in it.
It isn't a surprise, it is hard dirty work.
Still there are some exceptions. The local shop that does auto upholstery is run by the 3rd generation. Armand
"Jr." still takes care of most of the classic car work. He is well beyond retirement! His son takes care of the rest of the business! I don't know much about Armand senior, but there must have been one!
It is the sort of situation that can't last, but it is wonderful when you can enjoy it!
