Return to the past thanks to digital aging. (Re: da' trusty billy-goat wagon!)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who occasionally stroll down memory lane,

I finally was able to revisit a local museum that has preserved a Southern Pacific caboose.  It is a great venue to photograph any classic car.  Here is the photo I was able to take of Biquette:

Photos like this are fun to "take back in time" through [ur=https://65gs.com/board/index.php/topic,3265.msg22470.html#msg22470l]digital aging[/url].  I used the same techniques in this thread:

Here is my recreation of a black and white photo from say the 1960s:

Here is my recreation of a faded slide:

Enjoy!

Dear Chuck, Marcus, Jim, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos!  Indeed it is a fun little exercise that, in its own way, brings us back to the heyday of these cars!

Edouard,
I have seen many photos of your wagon on here and just realized, it sits at the perfect height, front and rear. Very nice ride!

Dear Tony, Kurt, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Thanks once more!

I have seen many photos of your wagon on here and just realized, it sits at the perfect height, front and rear. Very nice ride!

Yes, she does!  Maintaining that level stance will be just one more challenge if I can ever get around to towing a vintage travel trailer!

Thanks again, Edouard

A bit of autumn "color" . . . (Re: Da' trusty billy-goat wagon!)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Many classic car owners already have had to put their cars away for the winter.  Of course California is different.  Even so, many classic car enthusiasts take a break during winter because rain makes it difficult to keep your classic clean.  Yesterday I might have seen (or not) an example of another classic in the same parking lot as my normal grocery store.  I couldn't resist moving Biquette and taking a cute photo of the duo:

Of course a Buick it is not, but it is still a fun photograph, especially painted a perfect autumn yellow.

Enjoy!!

An unlikely pair of 60 year olds. (Re: Da' trusty billy-goat wagon!)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

The dry weather that is driving the horrible fires in southern California is simply threatening the north with another drought.  The warm and dry air has cleared the streets of any water or mud that could dirty a classic.  So the classic cars were out in force this morning.

On my way to my usual grocery shopping run I spotted a 60s Cadillac convertible.  In the parking lot I spotted another 60 year old classic:

I've always had something of a soft spot for the Porsche 356.  It definitely looks like a cross between a Volkswagon beetle and a 911.  It is kind of an automotive "missing link" in an evolutionary sequence.

I needed to get gas on my way home and, believe it or not, a Ford Ranchero from the late 1970s pulled up behind Biquette for a drink.

Finally, as I drove home, a Plymouth or Dodge from the early 60s was headed the other way.

I'm definitely not sure what the motivations was, but it was definitely a surprising collection of classic cars cruising the streets on an otherwise mundane Thursday morning in early January.

Glad you got some "Asphalt Therapy"!

I drove a '73 Karmann Ghia in West Germany in the early '80s.

It was a blast on some of the smaller town streets and back roads.

It was an "automatic", so not a so much shifting as my 411 (German version that someone had swapped in a Porsche engine), but it was still "sporty up to 40" (MPH or 65 kph).

Very similar to the Porsche.

The first 60 years were spent on surviving. The second 60 are gonna be spent on fun!

Dear Michael and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Glad you got some "Asphalt Therapy"!

Yes indeed, but I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about the lack of rain. . . . . .

Sounds like fun!  In a way, the road ecosystem breeds the cars that inhabit it.  Biquette is way too big for the narrow winding streets of the old towns of Europe.  When you have more room, it is natural to have larger cars that can take advantage of it.  It is a kind of automotive evolution.  Perhaps even Darwin would be proud!   :laughing7:

Hope you get rain up your way.

And Darwin had his chance when I gave him way too many opportunities.

His loss!  :laughing7:

Best to you, friend.
