Da' problem with d'em "longroofs" . . .
« on: November 20, 2015, 09:39:45 PM »
Dear mid-60s Buick ”longroof” fans,

I'm starting to get jealous now with all these wagons showing up.

. . . Yeah, but there's one problem with d’em long roofs . . . . .

When it comes to giving d'em longroofs their winter coat, that’s an awful lot of roof to wax and buff!

 :laughing7: . . . . Well, it was a terrific struggle, . . . but clean living prevailed! . . .

The rest of the car turned out nice and shiny as well:  :sunny:

Autumn has come late in California, so here’s a shot of my trusty wagon with red foliage all around:

Here is a close-up of her front - in 1965 you couldn't have too much chrome!  :hello2:

Finally what would a portrait of a station wagon be without a view of that all important tailgate?

Yes, the highway reader boards in Sioux City had winter storm warnings on them when we passed through last night .

Since it is already starting to get nasty in some parts of the USofA, may this give you all a bit of autumn memories before the weather turns really, really awful.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Fall is beautiful, isn't it?  And winter can be also, but not my favorite time of year because our fun cars  have to hibernate in this part of the country   :crybaby2:

6-9" of snow forecast for this neck of the woods by tomorrow morning.  Then 50 degrees for Thanksgiving next week.  Welcome to Michigan!

Our babies and one additional that I'm storing for our pastor are all tucked away under their covers.  Except, of course, the restoration project.  I hope to be working on that frame today!

I think I need a bigger shop!   :icon_biggrin:

Happy Weekend to all!

Dear Jim, Chuck, and mid-60s Buick admirers of the changing seasons,

Thanks Jim for sharing the nice photo of the autumn trees.  In California the natural landscape is mostly brown grasslands, so we have to pick our locations to get any autumn color at all.

Bummer dude!  What we really need to install on the earth is a working HVAC system and working regional thermostats!  :laughing7:

Nah, I wouldn't do you any good in the end.  All you would do is cram it with even more junk!!  :overthetop:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Eduard...you need a sport roof...less painted roof area to wax......haha.
Hey it just struck me, the-65 special wagon have the Skylark/Special side trim from the same year...that is so much better looking then the -64
side trim they put on the -65 port Wagons.

Dear Anton and 1965 Buick longroof fans,

Eduard...you need a sport roof...less painted roof area to wax......haha.

Ya' know, I think the effort to make the conversion would more more than cost me more than that little bit of extra area to wax!  :evil6:

Obviously I'm biased, but I think Buick really got a very balanced look in the 1965s.  I don't think the Buicks before or after was exactly as nice.  I think by 1967 the bean counters were reducing the amount of chrome and - well . . . so what's so bad about chrome!! . . .  :icon_thumright:

That car is just cool. You guys are still seeing fall colors, and we are getting snowed on. If I parked a white car outside today it would be invisible. I must say that I even like the color and I am usually not a fan of green. Good work,Edouard

Edouard, you car looks great. It would be a great ride for the Power Tour, have you ever thought about doing that? It is a blast, highly recommended.

Dear schlepcar, Jim, and mid-60s Buick longroof fans,

That car is just cool.

Of course she is!  After all she does have air conditioning!  :laughing7:

I must say that I even like the color and I am usually not a fan of green.

The body shop did a great job matching the color.  She hasn't looked this good in decades!

Well, perhaps someday, but I need to do quite a few things before she can be used for more than quick hops.  I'd guess, I've got a year of straightening out the shakedown issues and cleaning up the rough spots.

Thanks again!

Cheers, Edouard
