I need to put a new trunk seal in my 65. Between, Metro, Soft Seal, and Steele any difference in the fit? Just trying to get the best aftermarket I can, thanks Bill.

Some seals now have a hollow core. I put a hollow core Metro one in and was not happy. Hardly any resistance at all to close the lid. Still leaks however I think I have another problem. Appears in the past the channel where the seal fits on the driver side has a slight dip. Probably a repair done in the past. I would not have known until this seal issue came about. I`m going to look for a solid core seal to build up the resistance. Some original seals I`ve seen are are smaller than the repos.

For what it is worth, I installed Soft Seal products 24 years ago on our GS.
At the time , there wasn't much for selection. Even today though, all the weather stripping is in like new condition.

I've also had good luck with Soft Seal.
Just a note. There are two body seams on each side of the trunk that are below the trunk seal. If they are not sealed with seam sealer the trunk will leak. The water will enter under the trunk seal and run along under the trunk frame to the back of the car and appear on the tail light assembly's.

Replacing the tailgate seals . . . . that's another story!
