65 GS 4 speed rearend
« on: April 12, 2009, 06:38:36 AM »
Hi guys,  Haven't visited in a while, hope all are well.  The site looks great!   I was in a boneyard Friday and found a real 65 GS rear axle, complete from drum to drum.  It was apparently pulled from a 4 speed GS that came in about a year ago.  I opened it up and it looks to be a 3.36 gearset, but is not a posi.  Gears are in good shape.  I counted as well as possible but the drums are rusted so I could not turn the pinion for a true gear count.  It's got the big bearings and correct spring perches and original factory brake lines, but it is VERY rusty.  I offered the guy cheap money for it since it's a non-posi but he didn't bite.  If anyone needs that gearset or whole axle let me know and I'll then have a real reason to go back, get the axles turning and buy it if it's really a 4 speed gear set.  I couldn't justify any more spare parts right now, but I was sorely tempted!
Thanks
Pat

As a matter of fact Loren.....yes!  If you se any CJ3 parts let me know.

I offered him $100 and that wasn't flying -- he was fishing, trying to see how badly I wanted it.  Not sure what he'd sell it for.  I figured I'd see if anyone was really interested before I got serious about it.
