True GS Front Fenders
« on: March 29, 2014, 07:49:18 AM »
Does anyone have any true decent GS front fenders? I don't mind doing some work on them as long as they are makeable. Would like to get some in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin or Eastern Iowa. Also need some decent inner wheelhouses. I have some Skylark fenders full of holes and it would be cost prohibative to repair these.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Fred Z.

Fred - I realize you are wanting a true GS fender but for consideration I would have to believe it would not be difficult to modify a Skylark fender to make it a GS fender. The ventiports are the only difference and when I compared a Skylark fender to a GS it looks like a couple of the mounting holes are common. A Dremal with some cutoff blades can make some very precise cuts. Maybe it will be easier to find acceptable Skylark fenders.

Thanks for the input Dwaine. I think plain Skylark fenders would be fine for my car. I just don't want to deal with chrome trim holes that would need to be welded. So with that being said, does anyone have any Skylark fenders and wheelhouses?

Thanks,
Fred Z.

I used a Skylark fender on mine.  You will have to drill a few holes, fill a few holes and use a steady hand and cut off wheel to make slots for the ports.  Keep your old fender until you have transferred the measurements or use the measurements from other side.

Can you graft in the section with the vents to the other fenders? I know they do that with the fender gill sections for '71 'cudas.

These are the ones that are gs, but do need work.  Also have to agree with the others, especially if you can find a bare bones Buick Special. They were very close to Gs without any trim holes. You would just have to cut in the port holes.
