Rob, thanks again for hosting the get together, as well as your hospitality. Please pass along my thanks to your wife for all the food.  :hello2:

John I'm in for a banner as well.

Jim, was that your gorgeous 66 GS near mine?? I checked it out at least twice, wish we could have connected for a chat.

My trip down was going great......until 2 miles west of Clearwater, MN, when I heard the unmistakable windmill sound indicating a seized fan clutch.  :sad1: :BangHead: After confirming that, figured nothing to lose by continuing on to Rob's shop, albeit at reduced speed.

Sunday at the swap meet, I lucked out by finding not one, but two fan clutches, one of which came from a 65 Electra!! What are the odds of that?? Had plenty of *help* with the R & R while people passed on by wondering what we were doing.  :angel4: Can't thank you all enough for being there with finding dropped nuts and washers, holding parts for disassembly, and passing on your knowledge. :occasion14: :cheers2:

Barely made it to Fargo last night, and after 8+ hours of sleep, north to Winnipeg! Drove about 950 miles total, used about 1 quart of oil, haven't figured out gas yet, but should be around 14-15 mpg.

I'll post some photos later today.

Tom, glad you made it home safely. It was great meeting you and reconnecting with all the other GS guys.

Rob, thanks for hosting the get together and to your wife for the food. Definitely envious of your shop.

Great steaks Loren.

Where do you start? Hats off to Rob for hosting the "party" this year, it was a great time! It was a privilege to get together again with this group of guys. Thanks to the road warriors who drove long distances to be here, everyone got to the Twin Cities and back safe & sound. Maybe we need to start having a long distance and hard-luck award....  No rain, and a really nice day Sunday for the show. I believe I counted 5 65 GS cars in the show, and Milton's convert in the car corral for 6 total. I also counted at least 4 other 65 Skylarks. Thanks Loren for the visors! We should start thinking about where the "pre-show party" should take place in 2015.

John, I'm in for a banner.
A few more pics.

I'm in for a banner. It will be a nice wall display in the shop.

Mark,
I see you got a picture of the GS convert from St Cloud.  I think his name is Terry.
I wasn't able to find it latter. Anyone else get to see it?

If it was the white/black top/red interior I did see it and snapped a couple pictures. I may have a picture of all the 65 Gran Sports that were there.

I also have a few photos of that St Cloud car. Won't get anything posted until Tuesday now. Just as I was about to get started uploading to photobucket, Alan who bought my brown car called to say he had a transport ready to meet me in Pembina, ND Tuesday.

So, mad scramble to:
1 -  Rent trailer.
2 -  Book one more day off work (ouch).
3 -  Arrange for short term full insurance coverage.
4 -  Remember I need two more tie down straps, which I bought locally.
5 -  In between all that, on the phone to book/confirm everything.
6 -  Start the car and remove my license plates (tags), since in Manitoba, they don't go with the car.

I'm heading out in the morning to get Alan's car on its way to him. Thankfully, he's been very patient while we worked all this out.

What a day this turned out to be.  :tongue3: Got trailer picked up, car loaded and strapped down, ready for the highway at 10:35AM! Discovered that I needed to make a quick stop at Canada customs just so they could enter the VIN as exported from Canada. Then US Customs told me that the buyer is supposed to be present to sign the paperwork!!

After I advised them of my minimum three separate phone calls to their vehicle import office where I was advised this wasn't required, they processed the form, giving me specific instructions for Al to follow once he gets the car.

Then two miles to Pembina, ND where I waited, and waited, and waited some more. Transport driver called me to say he wouldn't arrive until 6:30PM!! Pembina is not a large town, more like a podunk one. :icon_biggrin:

At least a friend from work stopped by so we had the chance to chat for a while.

I will try to get some photos up alter tonight or tomorrow morning.

So I'm now down to one Buick, and it will stay that way............for now anyway. :angel4:

To all those who have express a desire to have a GS banner printed for them, I will start a new topic in the General Discussion section. I now have a quote from the printer for printing 15 banners.

Thanks,
John
