Wanted: Rear axle assembly for '65 Skylark Gran Sport
« on: August 29, 2013, 07:48:12 PM »
I'm in need of a rear axle for a '65 Skylark Gran Sport with automatic transmission. I purchased an axle assembly with posi-traction over a decade ago and was told it would fit my car. However, I'm not sure it came out of a '65. It does have the flared tube ends, but I'm suspicious of the coil spring mounting pads on this unit. They are not the same style as a '65 Skylark's. Can someone describe or send me a picture of the correct style? Thanks.

64-66 had flat coil spring mounts which used a bolt-on retainer plate to keep the spring in place.
67 used a spring mount with a raised center that fit into the spring ID.
66 and 67 used thicker axles and used a different wheel bearing than the 65.
