My name is Steve Stabler, Owner of Get Bent! Exhaust, Auto Repair and now MANDREL BENDING!
My first car was a 1962 Buick Lesabre Cloned into a Wildcat. I built the original motor when I was 21. It was a .040 over 401. I was the first to install a turbo 400 into my 62 buick back in 1986. I used a 1964 flexplate, trans, driveline and crossmemeber. The converter had no support for the hub in the back of the crank, so I didnt worry about it. I hardly had any vibration. I removed my e-brake assy since the driveline was in the way. I redrilled the crossmember holes so it would work. I put on a dual quad intake and ran non-progressive dual 2bbls. I installed 3:42 gears as well. I got nearly 25 mpg with that car! I sold it to move to Oregon back in 2000.
In 2008, I found a true 43,000 mile 62' Wildcat. I completely restored her and recently put in a 6-71 blower. I have the original hood and motor set aside. The motor is being rebuilt stock. The motor I use now is a 65' 425 bored .060, Stainless valved heads, BBC valve springs, Don Hampton custom supercharger intake, dual 625 AFB's and a SP400 with 2500 stall and a 3:42 posi.
I have build custom Buick headers for my car as well as a 2 1/2" dual exhaust with my mandrel bender. I am currently talking to a friend of mine to do aluminum Nail-heads... we'll see huh!
Good thing is I get the first set!
