Carter to Edelbrock carburetor lineage?

Dear mid-60s Buick historians,

dlmwtvl's thread reminded me of a question I've always wanted to know the answer to.  I read somewhere that the Edelbrock line of carburetors were from Carter castings, but I never understood which Carter designs Edelbrock choose to produce.  Does anybody know which Carter carburetor is now the Edelbrock Performer and Thunderer?

At least one curious mind would like to know . . . .

. . . Awe shucks!  Do I have to answer my own questions? . . . .

Since nobody jumped in with an answer, I decided to see if I could locate that webpage that claims to give the history of the Carter carburetor.  Lucky me here it is!

According to this web page anyway, the Edelbrock Performer series corresponds to the Carter AFB and the Thunder AVS series corresponds to the Carter AVS which was a later carburetor than was used on our 1965 Buicks.

So if anyone else was curious - now you know!
