I executed my contingency plan
« on: April 28, 2013, 08:27:29 AM »
I'm still very dedicated and motivated to complete my ongoing full restoration but could not stand another summer without a car....so momma agreed to let me pick up this 4sp. She also provided very clear direction on maintaining motivation on finishing my other car. The black interior is all original and very nice. Motor is not original but is a nailhead. Car was originally silver with black top. The guy I bought it from had the car since 1972 and it was very tough for him to let it go. His first 65GS, bought in 1965, was a white/black 4sp so he made this one the same. I plan on changing this back at some future point, but really just want to have a driver. Set the motor up on an analyzer and it is very strong. Has some Camero rims which will also have to be changed out as well. I'll get it in the registry in a few days.

Very nice indeed and we did the same thing years ago just to have a car to drive while the other car was being redone.

Just another perk of being a 65GS guy and could you imagine being into Hemi Cuda's and needing approval from the wife to spend another $500,000 for a "summer driver" while the other Hemi Cuda was under restoration?   :icon_biggrin:

Sharp looking contingency plan. Hopefully driving this one doesn't derail your restoration plans. :icon_biggrin:

Great looking plan B.

I have used the plan B concept  to avoid getting to frustrated and taking short cuts that should'nt happen on the main project.

They can also help when you don't quite remember how something goes together or you need a fast replacement part.

Congratulations

Very nice Plan B. As Milton said, having another car around for reference can really help. Congratulations. 'Momma' must be a great woman.

Not having a car to drive is no fun! Looks great! We are working hard to get the convert
up and running for top down cruising! :rocker:

Oh man, I took my twin 16 yr old boys for a spin today and they now know why I've been working so hard on my restoration. A couple of the pics were taken on the switch backs overlooking the Utah portion of the Flaming Gorge reservoir.
