I was wondering what brand was standard equipment?
I think it was Uniroyal Tiger Paws?
Any one know for sure?
Thanks

Not Uniroyal tiger paws.

The spare that I have in my finished GS is an original Firestone on a plain steel wheel . The wheel shows no evidence of ever having been on the car. Only carried in the trunk.
The original sale invoice shows the car with spinner hubcaps and whitewall tires

Don't remember if the tire has a model name and can't get into the trailer to check it .

The 65 GS cars all came with a 7.75-14 tire.  I would be interested to know the tire model when Loren gets a chance to look at his.  I am going to guess that it is the Firestone "Champion" "gum-dipped" tire.  That is the one that is reproduced by Coker now for this year car in that tire size.

To see photos of the whitewall tires and their width, go to the Photo Gallery on this website, look in the "Ads and Literature" section. There are black and white promo photos on page 7.  I'd say about a 1" wide whitewall was used.

There is also a B F Goodrich tire reproduced for this year car in this size, and it has a 1" whitewall--I have examined them on cars at shows before.  The Firestone tire has a 7/8" whitewall--I have a set of them on my '66 Skylark (correct for 66 also).  I chose the Firestone over the BFG because I like the thinner whitewall--looks better on the car.

Thanks for all the good information.
I checked my May 65 Car Life on a 65 GS test and they said it came with US Royals standard.
Do you think it came with Firestones or US Royals?
Thanks,

Dave,

Most OEMs had multiple sources for common tire sizes & types. Probably could have been Goodyear, Firestone, US Royal, sometimes General Tire.
