Hi guys, got my radiator today from cool craft. Made by us radiator. I called them about the inlet and outlet positions being wrong but they say its to the specs they have. The outlet on the bottom drivers side is a ninety elbow turned 45 degrees pointing towards center of radiator. I believe its supposed to be pointing straight up and angled out away from the tank. The one on top right is a ninety running parallel with top of radiator. I believe it is supposed to be turned up slightly. Am I right or not? Would be nice if someone could post picture of one with proper orientation. Car is a 65 skylark gs with air. It did not have the right radiator in it when I got it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Bob

Bob,

Here are photos of my '65 Skylark GS radiator. It is for a GS with airconditioning, therefore the top inlet is at an angle to help navigate around the AC compressor. A non AC GS would have the top inlet come straight out.  The second photo is the bottom outlet, which would be the same for either a AC or non AC GS. The angle is more like 45 degrees or so.  This is an original Harrison radiator from a low milage '65 GS. Have you considered having your old radiator recored instead of a new one? Costs about the same.   Another option might be to have a radiator shop transfer the old inlet and outlet tubes to the new radiator. Good luck.

Bob,

You can see a diagram of the radiator in the GS Service Manual, illustration 12-1.  If you don't have a GS Service Manual, you can see it here on this Website. On the Home page, go to Electronic Garage, go to page 99. The illustration is for a non AC equipped GS.

Thanks guys. I'm waiting for cool craft to call me back. They are looking for a shop near me to make the changes, said they will pay for it and still give me the warranty. I've printed pics to give shop to get them right. Hey John, I wish I could have used the old ones but they are all wrong. The radiator and hoses were a cobbled up mess. I hope to get it back like it is supposed to be. Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated. Hope to have it back together and going by spring.

Bob,

You're welcome.  Let us know when you are ready to find molded radiator hoses that fit. Now that will be another challenge.

Oh how I know John. Everything for a buick also costs twice as much. But it is worth it to go first class.
