"Fast With Class"

Hey guys.. I've talked this before and toyed with the idea but it finally looks like it could actually be a reality!

Here's the idea:

Get at least fifty 1965 GS's to show up at the 2015 BPG Event and be recognized as the premiere car of that event!

We might also want to consider sharing the spotlight with the Riv GS if it doesn't appear that we can swing fifty GS's however maybe it's the competitive side of me that says let's make it all about our GS!   evil6

Now... to show you how serious I am about this.... check out this thread:

http://www.v8buick.com/showpost.php?p=1564697&postcount=27

For those who don't know Brad, he's one a big player in the Buick collectors world.  He owns both a GNX and GSX prototype (in fact.... "THE GSX Prototype")  He's all about the hobby and is one of the senior leaders and organizers of the Buick Performance Group (BPG).

It looks like we have his attention and this gives us a lot of time to organize, complete those cars and plan / save for the trip.

Well... who is serious enough about this to consider actually attending with their car?  If we organize this correctly, we could actually organize a mini caravan and some of us could roll into Columbus together from the North, South, East & West.

To sweeten the pot... for anyone interested, I only live about two hours from Columbus (North West) anyone waiting to make the extra drive would be treated to a killer BBQ and drinks at my house one night that weekend (my treat of course!)

Anyone else as excited about this as I am?  Finally the 65 is getting a chance to be in the spotlight.... damn this has me excited!   blob7

Sounds great Chris!
But I only have 5 years to get ready....that's pushing it!

A little story about Brad and his GSX...I went to college in Columbus, Ohio where Brad lives (early 1980's). I had my 66 GS out there for a semester to attend the Car Craft Nats. I didn't have the extra $5 gas money to drive to the local track (National Trail) for a street car event, so I rode my 10 speed out there. Saw a guy with a GS T shirt and started talking to him. He offered me and my 10 speed a ride home, so we went out to the parking lot, threw my 10- speed in the trunk of his GSX prototype, and away we went. Got back to the apartment and my smart-ass roommate said 'Nice Chevelle'!
Those were the days....and fortunately, some of us never change!

And if the reunion becomes real, I'll try to throw my 65 together by then!

Well, let me see now. icon_biggrin  In five years time, plenty could change. I might also even have my car ready for such an event. Or possibly, since I love convertibles, I might have one of those by then.  occasion14 idea1

Bottom line is there's lots of time to organize such a gathering, and to get cars ready. headbang

Count me in as attending, even if I have to trailer my car down. Better start saving up for gas money. BangHead

Sounds interesting and might push me to finish a project, but it is 5,000 miles roundtrip and $900 for gas at today's prices. But I am interested in this idea. I will be 66 years old in 2015, just missed 65 by a year. That would have been cool. Kurt

2015 !!! You sure know how to put the pressure on me... Take the GS Coupe apart and put it all together in five years without having any extra parts on garage floor....Or just take the GS Convertible.
From NYC route 80 to 76 to 71 into Columbus...  The Atlas lists the trip as 557 miles.  If I can make it, I'll be there.
sounds like a real fun time for all.

So far so good... the interest seems high and it sounds like guys are willing to consider making the trip and getting the cars ready.

Who else would seriously consider this?

I'm going to start a poll to make answering this a little easier for everyone and help keep responses private.

I will make the trip, provided those tree-huggers in Washington don't drive the price of gasoline up to $15 a gallon by then....
